MURI is a throwback to the early days of DOS platformers. They days with EGA graphics and pc speaker sounds. It does a remarkably good job. The game is split into 4 episodes with five levels each, including the boss fight. The levels themselves are well designed and very fun. There's a lot of secrets. Combat is basic but fun, with a few different ammo types and enemies that is easy to defeat but still fun to fight. The biggest positive for me is the framerate and smooth scrolling. Smooth screen scrolling on DOS wasn't a thing before id software's Commander Keen. The dev's were smart enough to use smooth scrolling here, even if it's not totally accurate for the type of platformers they're emulating. The framerate in those days were often 16 fps and for me, that's not playable. Luckily, the game has the option to run at 32 fps, which is a lot better. Overall, it's a good game and smart design choice Give it a go.

People like me, who grew up playing MS-DOS platformers like Duke Nukum (Yes that was his name back then, look it up) or Commander Keen, will feel right at home.

When i`m seen this the first time, i thought "wow, nice duke nukem clone" . Now, after completed, i`m don`t change my opinion. In fact, game contains more things, than original - more guns, more bosses more functional elevators (you can as moved up as down, with precision control). Sad, but game lost differents mechanics, as more high jump or climbing on ceiling. And no more helicopters. After all, i recommend this, if you like old duke (1-2-3, parts, espesially the first).
