130 hours and feel like I've only scratched the surface. It's difficult, slow going, time consuming and I love it.

Better than I thought it was going to be so far. A lot of the negative reviews I saw on social media were from vets who spent a lot of time playing the game without some of the more recent QOL changes that have been made to the game. I can see how without the tasks system and less content than what i came into the game with, being a new player, vets would be upset about it. After all, you put a bunch of hours into a game--time you don't get back--and what that commitment to be respected. As a new player i'm actually glad they have a sub for the game with the caveat that they continue updates at the pace they have been. The game can be difficult and make you want to pull your hair out. Certain things like recipes not being in game--as much as existing players want to cry about 'realism'--they forget we're in a fantasy game with elves.. and recipes are pretty damn realistic. I still have one for my great grandmothers favorite cake from 100 years ago! but you can't have a recipe in the game for basic food? cmon.. Like, give us a way to earn the recipes (content that i would love actually). I would also love a reason to explore the world in game, being that it's massive and most exploration as of now, that i've experienced isn't rewarding in and of itself. Add the corpse of a knight in a tower that has a map to some cool treasure on an island off the coast, or a sword stuck in a rock on a hill that you need to have a certain strength requirement to remove, or a bandit camp where after the two bandits attack you and you kill them you find a note and you a discover they were lovers trying to escape their old gang. Give me a reason to play when my guild isn't on--little moments in the world can build to a great experience.

The game is definitely not for everyone, that's for sure. However, it is also the single most immersive MMORPG I have ever played. Every encounter is lethal and you are not the protagonist of the story. You are just a single person making their best existence in a harsh landscape. This doesn't mean that you have no impact as the best of their classes can do things that are amazing. The best tamers can have pets that can single handedly kill bosses. A Thursar warrior who has perfected the combat can fight several real lesser experienced players at a time. Those who study necromancy intently go from having 1-2 walkers to raising an army of 7-12 at any given moment. People who specialize in horseback will become menaces in the plains and lose viability in the dungeons without a mount. Crafters separate the weak with swords that swing for 9 damage and cannot pierce steel to blades with triple its viability. Spiritists enable the necromancers to be useful and resurrect their allies without the aid of a priest. Butcherers with the correct lores will extract rare materials that no one else can at a butcher's table. Elementalists have magic that can change the weather in game or rain down lightning on their enemies. There are tons of skills within the game to learn and each one for the most part can be explained in a similar fashion to the ones above. Every aspect of the game can be taken to its most extreme and often leaves you feeling like you had a massive journey. The journey of being a budding necromancer, crafter, tamer, paladin, deathknight and any other aspect feels like a Dungeons and Dragons story of rags to riches and obscurity to fame. Community is so important with a game like this and the experiences you have will leave you mentally drained or elated at any given moment. The highs of this game are some of the biggest you will feel as the stakes of a full-loot MMO are so high. This is equally stated that the lows of the early game and losing a precious item will feel bad. I only played for a month at this point, but I have created so many friends and I have tons of stories to tell that always entertain my friends. As there is one global server (it doesnt lag for me at all), you meet a variety of people and befriend tons of diverse people. I have friends from Sri Lanka, France, Italy, Netherlands, England, West Coast US and many more. It makes the experience so much more enjoyable to hear someone with a thick, french accent argue with an italian, it's amazing. I have played the Tabletop version of Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 edition for a very long time at this point and playing this game is the closest I have ever gotten to replicating that feeling in an MMORPG. This game doesn't feel as toxic to play as Ark or Rust. You will be griefed at times, but many of my positive experiences outweigh the negative by 4:1. There are no main story quests or big plot lines to play through. The content is the players and their interactions with one another. The politics of guilds and the importance of an individual's agency in choosing what they want to be in the world. I have so much more I wish to say about the game, however, I don't wish for this review to become long-winded so I'll end it there.

After a somewhat rough tutorial, but still really entertaining tutorial island I fell in love with this game. The sandbox elements, the different styles of combat. Melee being so different from magic, and having soooo many different build options made me fall in love with the game. I've put 65 hours into the game in 5 days, I am beyond hooked. It has no pay to win, no microtransactions, very responsive GMs and support staff. Massive recommend if the game interests you

It is a one of a kind game. I love it and have never found another game like this. If you give it a try you will not regret it! It does have its issues but having a contact GM option makes a huge difference in the gameplay and solving issues!
