I put this game off for a long time thinking it would be similar to Undertale. While I appreciate all the work Toby Fox has done, I can't stand his games. But to my surprise, this game is only remotely similar to Toby's games, and in many ways it surpasses them. It's just a cute, naive story. The game doesn't try to annoy you in any way, doesn't try to frustrate you in any way, no intrigue...... Just a nice everyday life. Although it's a little sad that not enough time is given to some of the characters. Even though I was remotely familiar with the developer, I regret not supporting him back in the day. Will continue to keep an eye on it from time to time. It's a good game and has a lot to commend it for.

This game is a quick yet fun adventure!! I absolutely adore the art style, music, and characters (Tori my beloved). It's pretty light-hearted but at times it can get a bit dark and I appreciate that very much. I think the writing (especially towards the end) feels a little iffy, but I still enjoyed Mondealy a ton more than I expected. If there ever is any DLC for this game in the future, I will absolutely buy it!!

Spoilers Ahead! TL;DR: I rate this game a 7/10. This was a pretty nice game to play through. The highlights of this game are the music and visuals, no doubt. It definitely gives a great impression to me, similar to Deltarune. The humor and references are also on point -- I really loved getting the Moai head, lol. Then, there's the story. I'd give it a 6/10, simply because it ends too flatly. It has a happy ending, but it doesn't elevate past the same level as Vana and Tori's reunion. Yes, it isn't supposed to be the most exaggerated hero story, but I just wish the relationships felt more earned. While Riley being a tsundere in the story is perfectly fine, Micheal has more flirty interactions with Corsic than Riley. When Corsic mentions Riley's crush to Micheal, he just blankly asks what he should do about it -- maybe he's just oblivious, but he completely changes his attitude with Riley afterwards. Tying the Corsic dolls to a Corsic ending would have been a great move, giving them more of an incentive to find rather than an achievement. The VHS tapes should have been the collectibles tied to a non-story objective -- I found it weird how they aren't given any achievement. I'm unsure of how biased favoring a Corsic x Micheal ending is, but it would have been nice to see a different path unfold. Dary is also just sidelined to be Rufus's love interest -- outside of the intro chapters, she doesn't do anything else. It would have been cool to have her during the portal room, at the very least. Lastly, Frogga and the remedies are a strange case. I get Riley being secretive about her condition, but how far has the underground advanced medically? Aside from the doctors deliberately keeping Riley's mom crippled, did no one have Riley screened for her genetic disease? Did the world not even get a chance to study the disease, even with the various remedies floating about the land? I get the King's intense depression after his wife's death, but he REALLY is his own worst enemy. At the very least, it would have been a moment for the King's character growth, showing him he can't save his daughter with his soul still broken. However, he just decides to sideline himself, forfeiting any extra impact in the story too. Other than my gripes on choices, everything else is solid. Rufus being mysteriously chaotic is in-character, the story events are fine, etc. Part of me wishes Melemo rejected Micheal's wish, just to see how true-neutral she could be. I'm not sure how well that would drag the story out, but it would be a funny evil route if you are more of a jerk to Riley. It would give some consequences to saying "No, you look ugly in your ball dress," or turning the lights off after she's already pissed at you. Overall rating: 7/10; the ride was enjoyable.

Mondealy is a pixel RPGM-esque game that I'd really love, sadly it is quite lacking in the developed feels department. spoilers: The only storyline I felt was fleshed out properly was Tori's and Vana's return to him was the only one that felt genuine in my eyes. Michael and Riley's storyline felt meh and very, very rushed. I had this man from being treated like a servant to a lover in a matter of 20 minutes. I felt more development between Michael and Corsic than Michael and Riley. Dary and Rufus' development felt okay I guess, like life just happens like that and that's understandable but what's not understandable is the wasted potential of Riley and her mom and her dad. I saw King Karhen twice only on my playthrough and that mf was ice-cold and didn't get any redemption in the end. anyways, design wise the characters are pretty and beautiful. I hope the developers find this game a learning experience on their storytelling because everything is there, it's just missing that oomph and kick. final verdict: looks: 8/10 plot: 6/10 controls: 10/10 average score: 8/10
