It was fine! An interesting, artsy, and dark little game. I purposely tried to get the bad ending, and that was intriguing. I could relate to bits of it, but also found it confusing. Still, I think that's the point. Our minds ARE confusing palaces. Best if you get it on sale, though. The trailer hooked me but I wasn't as compelled by the whole story. Great music! Added it to several playlists on Spotify.

This game was a hauntingly beautiful and uncomfortable experience. The art while simpler go along with the atmosphere of this visual novel perfectly and help enhance your focus on the story. As someone who's been like our main character and was with someone who had BPD and was toxic and emotionally abusive it really hit home, especially the need to try and be their saviour and help them get better. And although I personally related to the main character more given my personal experiences, I did still feel a lot of sympathy towards Sune as I know from experience that people with BPD don't enjoy hurting others and themselves. All in all I definitely recommend this game but please pay attention to the trigger warnings and be prepared to cry a lot.

First of all, let me say that this is not a typical "romance" "game". In fact, it's quite the opposite. Also it would be more accurate to describe it as a VIsual Novel than a game. Milky Way Prince - The Vampire Star is a story that will be bizarre and make no sense to some people. However, if you have ever been involved with a toxic partner and struggled with your mental health at the same time, you may be able to relate to the story. The game warns players on the loading screen to tread carefully if past traumas are still fresh. It's not a comfortable experience. It's a novel designed to make you think and realise how destructive toxicity is in a relationship, how it drowns people. And how easy it is to lose one's sense of integrity and identity in such relationships. I recommend the game for the following reasons: It offers a very well constructed, immersive visual style, which amplifies realism and sensations. There are multiple endings. The story accurately depicts the slow downfall of the partner who largely supports the relationship to make it work. There are POV's from both the protagonist and the partner. So you can see through their own biased perspectives on the relationship. In this visual novel, both characters struggle with mental health. An interesting perspective that spoke to me on a personal level. Now for the drawbacks: Like many stories that deal with mental health issues, the portrayal of BPD may not be entirely accurate. However, I still recommend it, with the idea that the game serves as an example of how behaviours such as manipulation, self-harm and other psychologically abusive behaviours slowly drain people involved in this kind of dynamic. By this I mean that it correctly portrays emotional abuse, which may not be strictly limited to the BPD condition. Has visual effects that may not be appropriate for epileptic users, and may trigger PSTD reactions in users who have experienced such abusive situations. The game may speak to a specific audience, but it's ambiguous and open to personal interpretation. Which might not be of everyone's taste.

I usually ignore media that has trigger warnings, as it never really affects me in any way. This game caught my attention because it talks about borderline in a relationship, and as someone with BPD, I had never seen anything like it before, so I bought the game. Chapter 1 left me a little uncomfortable, since I clearly recognized the situation Sune was going through, but I didn't care too much, then the second chapter came, and by the end of it, I literally broke down crying. Each of Sune's lines was something I've already said before, that I cried before and that I've been through before. I still haven't played the rest of the chapters at the time I'm writing the analysis (I left the game open for 4 hours to farm cards, lol), but just from the experience I had in this chapter, I feel like it's going to be a very strong emotional journey, and I I really appreciate it, even though it triggers me. It's an excellent game, and I recommend it to anyone who had similar experiences, whether that had partners with borderline or to those who suffer from it. Really great game.
