Honestly? Buy it on sale. The pros is that you get what you paid for. The cons is that you get what you paid for. The levels by themselves are pretty easy and there are a lot of HP drops (Though that isn't the case for the free DLC ones, more on that later). While this is disappointing because they felt like they were made in 15 minutes with nothing very interesting to them (Unlike, say, levels in Bloodstained), it helps that they're quick when you lose all your lives to a boss and have to re-do them all. I first beat all 9 levels as Ekoro, then the 5 main ones as Gunvolt and Beck. Unsure if there are differences in damage or not, though Beck ends up being a bit annoying, since his shots go a bit lower, and the game seems designed for the shot height to be the one of the other two characters. Took a few tries until I understood the mechanics of the first 5 bosses, but after that they become pretty easy and consistent, though it also comes with some issues: Part of that is because you can get hit multiple times and it still be worth it because of how much damage you can deal, but at the same time some attacks are VERY hard to dodge or react to. DLC levels are... a bit more painful. Not the levels themselves (And besides, if you want to you can skip most enemies), but the bosses. First one is fine, last one is kinda easy, the issue is on Elise and Brandish, where your i-frames become worthless. On Elise at least you still see some semblance of openings, telegraphs, etc, so it's a least a boss where you can think "OK, this is beatable". Brandish is likely 90% luck and makes you feel like you're fighting a Mortal Kombat 2 AI. I have to assume it uses something close to input reading, because after a while my strategy was doing bait-jumps do dodge it's attacks. Plot is incomprehensible, though I didn't play any of the three franchises it references, so maybe it's that. Graphics are pretty nice though, and it's controls are also very good.
Mighty Gunvolt feels like a Throwback to the classic Mega Man games with the sense of Azure Strike Gunvolt, Mighty Number 9 and Gal Gun but with a Retro Gaming Feel that you would find on a Nintendo NES game. Its a fun game but its also pretty hard too along with 3 different characters to play as being Beck, Gunvolt and Ekoro.
