Great game! Plays well on Steam Deck (settings at the very bottom). After finishing the main story, there is a survival mode in the game where you choose 1/3 unlocked abilities/weapons after each wave. Of course there is a choice of preferred songs (main game/DLC). You get "currency" and upgrade your traits. So it has a repeatable gameplay, great for relaxing. The main story can be replayed (challenges), it's even encouraged to do so. I hope there will be a sequel! __Deck settings__ - Disable frame limit - Scaling filter FSR - FSR sharpness 3 __In-game settings__ - Fullscreen - FXAA - Texture medium - Shadow quality low - SSAQ off - Model detail low - Word detail low - Motion blur off - Resolution native - sometimes goes 30 FPS - Resolution 960x600 for locked 60 FPS, drops to 45-50 in demanding parts (the only drawback is that the text is little harder to read otherwise the resolution isn't downgrade from native resolution in game)

Ive just beaten both normal Hell and Leviathan mode and also got 100% of the achievements you can get from the game. I geneuantly think this game is godtier, but it has some small aspects that people REALLY should be aware of before purchasing, as it might taint their experience. First, the positive stuff: - The gameplay is very good, mechanics are solid, satisfying and well implimented - The pretty decent selection of weapons is really nice as none of them feel outclassed by any of the others since they all serve very specific combat styles. The crossbow might be a bit broken imo, but i dont think it needs any nerfs since its the type of broken that is super fun + YOU CAN ROCKET JUMP LIKE IN TF2 :D - The music is REALLY GOOD. I am not a big metal fan myself and i can tell you that i was jamming to most of the tracks in here! - This game does have DLCs but they arent by any means necessary to get the full experience. Just a good way to get more songs, weapons and skins (i reccomend the bow DLC, the bow is amazing) - The game is SO replayable. A point Ill get into in the nitpick/problem section is the amount of content, but I should make it clear that the levels are really fun to revisit from time to time. I geneuantly boot up the game sometimes to just blow off some steam after a long day However, here are some of my nitpicks/problems the game has at the time of posting: since theres a lot of text here ill highlight the important stuff to read, but i suggest reading the explinations beneath it too - You might see this a lot in other reviews but the game is rather short. Because of that, some people dont see the game being worth its current price. I think its okay since you can see how much thought went into every part of the game, and the Leviathan mode they implimented helps to give you more to do. I might personally suggest waiting for a sale since the price feels a bit more fair that way. Still, if you buy it at full price, Im pretty sure you wont be dissapointed. Maybe just try not to speedrun anything and really try to take it at a pace you feel comfortable with - The game has some pretty significant glitches and bugs. Not that many to be clear, but they can be annoying when you try to play The ones I encountered so far are: the game crashing when you boot it up (fix for that personally was restarting steam, in case this helps anyone) tutorial level basically being a coinflip between if the cave area will even load or if youll be standing and walking into invisible walls/terrain a friend of mine also got a pretty devistating glitch where he just cannot start the game as it keeps crashing. So far no online tutorial or forum helped so its pretty devistating. Praying every day it doesnt happen to me, and I really hope it doesnt happen to you either Personal note: I think this game is geneuantly one of the better games ive played, be it FPS, rythm game or otherwise. There def are some stuff that could use polish since the glitches can be pretty devistating at times, but if you manage to overlook that and its relatively small amount of content, I think its a must-buy for anyone who likes to listen to awesome songs while playing games to try and feel cool lol Also, hope this review was somewhat readable, i am not a native speaker and Im incredibly sleep deprived rn so I hope anything here made sense lmao Every day I pray to the All that Hellsinger 2 comes out

I have one SERIOUS complaint about this game that my review will cover. Beyond that complaint, this game is AMAZING. If you like heavy metal. Buy this game. If you enjoy boomer shooters. Buy this game. If you enjoy rhythm games. Buy this game. The team has remained dedicated to it and just decided to drop a free DLC/Update that continues the main story in a new mode. It's an amazing team with an amazing passion and dedication to this beautiful game. And I am so happy I bought it. The soundtrack alone is worth the price. So my main complaint. That holds this game back from being one of the greatest games I have ever played. The way they do the Score Multiplier. Attack on the beat, kill on beat, and do slaughters (glory kills from DOOM) and the multiplier goes up. On a scale of x1, x2, x4, x8, and caps at x16. Miss a beat or get hit by an enemy and it goes down. It also goes down over time on its own. Encouraging you to constantly be moving and fighting. Since it tracks your score and has a leader board the multiplier makes sense. Play well, get more points, and get a high score. Simple. Rewards good play. HOWEVER, EVERYTHING is tied to the multiplier. How fast your character moves (which feels a little slow for a DOOM/Boomer Shooter like game). How much damage you do. Even the music. Is tied to the multiplier. And the soundtrack is amazing with some great vocalists that put their heart into the songs. And the lyrics of each song help tell the story of the game. BUT you can only hear those lyrics if you keep a 16x multiplier. Which is a shame because the soundtrack is such a shinning point of the game. And you hear less and less of it the lower your multiplier. And since the enemies have some SERIOUS tracking. you can dodge behind a ranged enemy and it will snap its spine to spin and still hit you. And you'll be beamed from across the arena. Or have fly enemies lob three slowing projectiles on different beats and track you with each shot. Get hit once and your multiplier drops. If you were at a x16 you get downed to a x8, lose the lyrics that you were rocking to. Now dealing less damage. And get completely thrown off your grove and not in an enjoyable way. The game is hard (especially on higher difficulties). And I enjoy that about it. I enjoy the combat. The flow it can have. A beautiful story to tell. And rocking out to the soundtrack all the while. I just HATE that everything is tied to that multiplier. Keep the multiplier in. Reward good play with a higher score. Make it go down if I get hit. I agree with that. Just don't strip me of this great music and serious firepower because I slipped up once. Or dodged one enemy just to get domed by a cambian hiding in the corner. I'd be so much more invested to sticking through the hard parts of the game if I could just keep the music going endlessly and rock out. (No, I am not going to play it via youtube or whatever. Because the music is synced to each level, looping or progressing as needed while you move through each level. It's very well done). Buy this game. Enjoy it. And if you are looking for that high score be prepared for some tough times. End rant, thanks for reading.

In an industry that often prioritizes bloated games with no cohesive design, Metal: Hellsinger bursts in with a screeching guitar riff and shows everyone how it’s done! It pitches an appealing premise--that of a rhythm FPS--and proceeds to deliver on it while effortlessly avoiding the rot that weighs down many games today. The result is five ridiculously entertaining hours of headbanging action, supercharged by an adrenaline-pumping soundtrack featuring a star-studded lineup of old and new Metalheads alike. And you know what? The story ain’t too bad, either, and is told with an enjoyable amount of style and personality. Metal: Hellsinger, as a whole, is polished, innovative, unpretentious, and most importantly fun, and the industry could certainly use more games like it. I absolutely love it, and I strongly recommend you check it out. Watch the full review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxB5So2pdBk
