This game holds up today imo. I think if you are someone who can still play games like half-life 1 and FEAR 1 today with a lot of enjoyment, you will also love this game for the same reasons. There is something about these old style fps story driven games that you cannot experience with modern fps story games today. I wish indie devs would dive into making games inspired by these type of games. I know Vladik Brutal recently came out and is inspired by Half-Life and it did well, so it shows a desire for these type of games today.

Giving this game a thumbs up based purely on nostalgia from my ps2 days. On PC its extremely wonky. I realize its on an older game engine (Dating myself on that). I still enjoy it for what it is.

one of the most underrated, fun, best lookin graphics for the time vietnam war game ever, most people hate it because of "ThE GAme iS a lITerAl hALLwaY", "thE gAME is hArd!11!!!" like man the game is not that bad its pretty good it has several realistic elements and even the US, ARVN, & Vietcong/NVA soldiers looks good and pretty close to its real life counterpart

After playing 8 hours of this game for a week and a few days here's my review. This game is done by the game devs that did the PC port of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault which is pretty interesting to see what they do on this one. The game starts you off as a Marine in the Vietnam War trying to go through the war from 1965 to the Tet offensive in 1968. The game is pretty good for the time for showing off the visauls of what Vietnam looks like in the year it was made in. The guns are fun to use although you can't aim down sight on them but you can't use the scope on the snipers. You get pistols, lmgs, smgs, rifles, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, rpgs, explosives for objectives. There are cutscenes in the game that explain the story of the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1968 with archieve footage from the Vietnam War. Before you start a mission you do get messages that you get and send to your folks back home whlie trying to lookout for your main characters brother in the war. Be warned there are footage of dead bodies in the archieve footage so If you don't want to see that then you might want to skip the game or skip the cutscenes. There are cutscenes in the game pretty much having the characters talking to each other and telling you what objective to do next. There are some things that show what happened in the Vietanam War like raicism, slurs against the Vietcong and NVA, The use of experimental drugs, prostitutes, and people getting mad at their superiors for nearly getting them killed. The music in this one is pretty good that was made in the year of the Vietnam War so I'll give it credit for that. You can switch the fire type in the games which is pretty good to have but I rarely use it unless I'm shooting from long range with certain guns. When you press ALT for some it can give you a bayonet but it's kind of useless because you got a gun with a lot of ammo. There is a tutorial that teaches you how the game works which is pretty useful to get used to the game mechanics. When you shoot an enemy they react in a way that makes it pretty good to how an enemy reacts to bullets. There are some missions where you have to go down tunnels, pick up intel, take down huts, use satchel charges, going to objectives, defend locations and so on. Now for the negatives for the game. You do get health pickups, guns, and ammo when searching bodies so that's useful to do. Healing is pretty good but can decrease the accuracy of your gun so do it when your in a safe place. This is probably one of the hardest FPS from the early 2000s I have ever played. I never cursed so much in a game this year thanks to this game. The amount of damage the enemy takes is soo ridicoulous that it's like they have thick armor on their bodies. The only way to take them out is by shooting them in the head. When your reloading some enemies can kill you when your trying to reload which is pretty annoying. The checkpoint system in this game is a joke because when you get far into the mission you barely get checkpoints so your gonna respawn and die a lot in this game. Even on easy it's not even fair because some bullets in the game can take off 75 percent of your health. When you are trying to look for health and ammo some levels can be really stingy about giving you pickups like medkits which heal like 50 percent of your health. The grenades in this game are useless the best weapons to use are the guns and the grenade launcher. I rarely get killed by grenades because the grenade indicator tells me that something is near me. This game is really unfair because some enemies can have bad accuarcy while others can just shoot you can kill you within seconds when you see them. Your teammates in this game are dumb as apes because they only move up when you move like in COD: WAW and when you get shot they just stand there and do nothing at times. Enemies can shoot behind the trees where you can't see them which is annoying to deal with in the game. For certain sections enemies have infinite health unless you do something certain from the mission objective to kill them. Some missions when I'm just starting can take damage out of you when you just spawn which very unfair to put into the game. In this game you deal with ground troops, tanks, mgs gunners, and the worst enemies of all the RPG men which so annoying the amount of times I died from them is so ridicoulous because when you see them at first they shoot at you and their rpgs can sometimes when their lucky take all of your health when it's full so watch out for them. There can sometimes be times when they shoot 2 rpgs at a time which can be really hard to survive from. The last level in the game was soo hard because I barely got any checkpoints which got me soo mad that I started to curse and say some things I would never say to anyone in real life because of how unfair it was with it's checkpoints. Some enemies can kill you when you just don't see them which is pretty annoying. There was one time when I was doing the last mission and moving up a hill and I got shot by a guy that I didn't see the face of. Some enemies can shoot through walls so be prepared for that to happen. When you die you see a cutscene with a voice actor telling your parents of your death which is annoying to see when you keep dying and see the amount of kills, times you've been shot, and body parts you shot at but it would be nice to see just get back to the game instead of seeing that. There are some levels where you have to pick up people and it can be annoying to deal with at times when your shooting and you can't go prone to hide from enemies. Sometimes some levels don't give you guns at all except for the ones you have so you have to look out for ammo for your gun before it becomes useless and becomes emtpy which hasn't happened to me. Even though I have a lot of hate for this game I still think it's worth trying out. I'm not going to on about the multiplayer because It doesn't work on Steam. There's probably a way to do that but I'm not going to do that since I don't want to ever play this game again because of how hard it was even on easy which is ridicoulous for the game devs for what their definition of "Easy" is. After finishing this game I promise to never play this game again to experience this torture of a game. No offense to the game devs but they really should have play tested it to see If it's fair to play. I give this game a 7 out of 10. If your going to get this game get it when it's on sale. I got it for less than 3 euro which is a good deal. But If your going to get it be prepared to die a lot. Thanks for reading my review and have a nice day.
