Overall = 8/10 Easy to play and simply built but with plenty of charm and silly cartoon humour. The humour is funny with a mix of the bizarre, random, puerile and farce with comedic timing and crazy antics, making it fun and entertaining to play. The basic pixel art is colourful and makes it easy to see what’s what most of the time and the quirky music adds to the experience, even if it does repeat a bit too often. There’s plenty of inventive levels and even more gags and secrets within them, but it does get repetitive and annoying when you can’t figure out the correct solution, especially when the interactive spots are a bit iffy at times. It’s bigger and better than the first game and makes for a dumb yet funny diversion, but I felt as though the hub area was a bit dull as the gags and secrets were few and far between and the Heist sequence lacked context. The currency system was also mostly pointless, although I can understand why it was included the way it was, and in general, the challenge of solving the levels, finding all the gags and achievements was about right.

Have you ever played a game where you pressed the "interact" button to open a door, only to instead have the game interpret it as that you wanted to climb through the adjacent broken window, end up cutting your hands, and bleed subsequently to death? If you want those kind of things to happen over and over again, buy McPixel.

This game is stupid. The humor is juvenile and absurd. The gameplay highlights a common issue with point-and-click adventure games of the past: every solution has to be brute forced, because the logic either just isn't there or it doesn't meet with player expectations. It shares a lineage with the flash games of yore. The pixel art gives off the impression that anyone or their 4-year-old nephew could make a game like this. All in all the game is crafted with love, without an express permission from anyone and without ever stopping to ask or answer any questions. It should inspire creators everywhere to just go and create the thing they want to create.

Way, way better than the second one, with the same zany humor as the first one. There's a flippin' Golden Boy reference, of all things. You'll probably like it if you're over 30 or under 15. It was probably made for me, but... if you haven't let the last ten years sap all the humor out of your body, I'll let you play it. 😌

Solid! Much better than McPixel, but still does not come close to McPixel2!
