It's in Early Access guys. Relax. Support the Dev team. This has the makings to be the best Madden alternative available. Once they flesh out a Franchise and expand the customization, this will be a must buy for any football fan. I'd like to see more options in creating a pro-style league, instead of just college.

Full disclosure I was on a playtest team for the game and have been playing since the beta test so I may have some positive bias here. I know people don't like long reviews so I'll just say... I like it so far. It obviously has the bugs and glitches that you would expect for an early release. No play action passes yet? No pro/franchise yet? Yeah, it's coming. I'd suggest that since the base game is free, just try it out and play it, the game play is actually very nice and it's a visually great game. I do want to address the elephant in the room, and that is how people are upset about the pricing tiers and in-game purchases when it was marketed as a "free to play" game. On some extent I can understand and don't think it was a good idea to market the game as free when obviously there would have to be paid items and not being clear what those things would be. But on the other hand, was anyone expecting that a game of this sophistication would be COMPLETELY free? Come on, really. Yes there is paid DLC. But considering you can do a lot for free and most of the big modes require no more than the $20 tier which is pretty cheap for a game like this, all this stuff has to be paid for somehow, right? We're in the Internet Youtube age where everyone expects to have everything for free and without making societal comment, there are too many people who just don't grasp that things they like cost money. As for features, I have not yet tried the dynasty mode since pre-release, but as I said the game plays well. The MPL mode that's the card-based team building online play, I had some doubts about it at first but found it quite addictive I haven't even bothered to go into franchise yet. Of course there are some genuine negatives I find, beyond the obvious growing pains of bugs and glitches. One thing that disappoints me is the lack of difficulty settings. I'm not very good at playing games like this and the game does move fast. The passing game has to be worked out yet, receivers don't go for the ball well, and interceptions, turnovers and blocked kicks are too frequent. Kicking is more challenging than it should be. The developers are against putting in sliders but I wish we had SOME difficulty control. I could write a book about all the good and bad things but come on, try it for yourself. Play a few games, collect a few cards, get in a few online matches (those are in the free version) and you can even earn a few dynasty seasons just from challenges. What have you got to lose? You've got hundreds of hours of good football play to gain. I honestly, and yes this is my bias again, think that many of the bad reviews are people pissed off that the entire game isn't free. Oh we love Youtube but get annoyed that it has to be paid for by ads. Seriously? Try it you'll be glad you did. It's far from perfect but just by downloading and playing you're showing your support and the developers are truly dedicated to making this a top-quality game which is more than I can say about certain AAA studios out there.

Please ignore the negative posts. There is a lot of good here with the potential to really be something special. So try it for free, but I hope you can support a PC football alternative option to the arcade styles of Madden. Create your own college dynasty!!!! For now. They will continue to improve this game with YOUR feedback. It is early in production, but they are listening and implementing our feedback to keep updating and hopefully making the game we all want! Customization is impressive. Game play is a little janky atm, but will improve with every update. So, if you are expecting Madden, I would suggest waiting about a year. What is here is very playable, it just isnt fully refined. Small dev team, but able to update frequently. I enjoy the game that is and what it will come to be... SUPPORT if you want football options!!!!

I think the game offers promise and already feels better than most indie games. This takes time to develop. If we want to look back in history at Madden, very little has been done to improve it over the last 5 years that is of note. We are getting a fresh taste of different, and we should absolutely be excited about the potential it has. The customization is off the charts, and the flow isn’t terrible. The announcers are basic, but if you play a game “in the stands”, it’s much better. Personally, it’s an exciting time for football fans with Maximum. The beginning is only the beginning, the polish is coming.
