Good remake. Unfortunately the developers abandoned it completely. There are many obvious bugs and issues that seem simple to fix. Still, quite fun and looks good.

It's a fair remake of the old MoM. Graphs are a bit too childish for my taste. It has been a long-awaited moment without the traction the old game had, probably because of new gaming influences and personal taste changes. I am very thankful for the remake, and hopefully, it will open the door for another attempt at recreating the old masterpiece.

Civilization + Dungeons & Dragons. A lot like the turn-base Might & Magic. Inexpensive (thus great value), amazingly fun, addictive with fantastic replay-ability. Had many long nights with the original DOS version eons ago. The magic of the original are faithfully recreated here. System requirement is pretty low and loading is swift. The mechanics can be overwhelming at first sight but within 5-minute, things will make more sense, Cities are built like Civilization. Heroes could be hired when they visit, magical beasts and monsters could be summoned, visiting traders will hawk their magical weapons. Resources are Gold, Mana and Food. Some tiles of the map can grant extra resources and opportunities to explore. Truly appreciate this highly optimized game and well thought out design. As a player, I can tell the developers were once fans of the original. Thanks for the remake.

The best way I can describe this is as 'Master of Magic 1.5.' There's not enough new to be a proper sequel, but DLC (paid and otherwise) adds elements not existent in the original game. Combine that with the use of hexes (intuitive enough that I had no problem with it) and some other minor tweaks to the rules, and it ALMOST feels like a new game without actually being all that different from the original. For folks who wish MoM included some quality of life features that have become standard since 1994, this is great. For people looking for a Civ killer, this ain't it. Master of Magic banks on your nostalgia, but it does so well, so if you wished you could revisit Arcanus and Myrror without the host of game-breaking bugs in Simtex's original, and you find Caster of Magic's artistic license a little too broad, this game is a good choice.

Played the original back when it was released and loved it. This is a mostly faithful remake of the original, but despite being mostly the same I struggled to get into it. Not sure if my tastes have changed over the three decades or what, but it just didn't recapture the magic for me. I can't really say anything bad about it, since it's pretty much the same game. Most of the strategies that worked in the original still apply here, but there are some differences and it seems like they've nerfed high unit count stacks (halfling slingers, im looking at you). I prefer the old square map tiles to the hex tiles, but the new look is 'fine' I guess. I still managed to get 30 hrs or so out of the game before I got bored and moved on, so as far as entertainment goes that's not a terrible cost-per-hour. It's a good game, and maybe someone who didn't already have hundreds of hours in the original might get more mileage out of this than I did.
