We mustn't judge too quickly. Let’s give it a try. King Harkinian: Link, my boy, go set up the game! Gwonam: Squadalah! We are off to the red planet! Link: I can’t wait to bomb some power stations! Lord Kiro: Here is the game, your majesty. And here is the traitor, Duke Onkled, who couldn’t solve a puzzle if his life depended on it! Morshu: Sorry, Link. I can't give credit. Come back when you're a little, mmm, richer. Ganon: You dare bring light to my lair? You must die! Oh wait, wrong game. King Harkinian: Enough! Let’s power up those colonies. (They start playing the game. The screen shows a Martian colony with a puzzle to place power stations.) Link: Gee, it’s kinda like placing Triforces, but with more thinking. Zelda: Father, you must use strategy. We need to think ahead, like in Faces of Evil. King Harkinian: Mah boi, this peace is what all true warriors strive for! Let's solve this puzzle. Gwonam: Remember, King, we have limited resources. Use them wisely, or we shall return. Ganon: Join me, Link, and we can conquer Mars together! Link: No way, Ganon. I'm too busy saving Martian colonies. (They solve the first puzzle successfully. The characters cheer.) King Harkinian: I wonder what’s for dinner? Mars power, that's what! Morshu: Rope? Bombs? Strategy! We need more strategy! Lord Kiro: Patience, young ones. Each move must be calculated. Here is the solution, your majesty. Zelda: Father, focus! We need to place the power stations like this. King Harkinian: You dare bring light to my lair? Oh wait, I mean, let's power this lair up! Ganon: It’s too late, Link. I’ve won. Oh wait, wrong game again. But this is getting tricky! Gwonam: Remember, the power is in your hands! Let’s finish this level. (They continue playing, solving puzzles and struggling with more difficult levels.) Link: Gee, it sure is getting tough. These puzzles are more challenging than fighting Ganon! Zelda: We must persevere. The Martian colonies are counting on us! King Harkinian: You’ve saved me! Here’s the power station. Oh wait, wrong line. But still, great job! Ganon: No! Not into the pit! It burns! Just kidding, this game is actually kinda fun. Lord Kiro: And much better than anything Duke Onkled could ever handle. He couldn't power a light bulb, let alone a Martian colony! King Harkinian: You dare bring light to Duke Onkled's lair? He couldn't even light a match! Link: Duke Onkled probably thinks a power station is where you take a nap. Gwonam: Indeed, a game of great strategy and foresight. Something Duke Onkled severely lacks. (After playing for a while, they finish several levels and gather around to discuss.) King Harkinian: My boy, this game truly is what all true warriors strive for. Challenging, strategic, and fun. Link: Gee, it wasn’t so bad after all. I’d play it again. Excellent puzzle game. I bought it on sale but it could have been a very good buy even if not. It's super clean, and the game teaches you how it play slowly but steady without telling you anything. You're learning by playing it. 10/10 hidden gem game ! Congratulation to the designers !

This review is specially made for those who like to get all the achievements in games (minor spoilers ahead). Description: Mars Power Industries Deluxe is an indie puzzle game where you need to place energy towers that redirect energy from the ground into the houses. It’s played like a board game with a limited number of pieces and only a few correct ways of placing them and transferring energy (and later oil) to all the buildings to win the level. It doesn’t have a narrated story but has a few short cutscenes and different endings that give a hint of what is happening. The game has pixel art graphics and its unique visual style, present in the building you place but all the interface itself. The backgrounds vary according to the biome of the level and the animations and visual effects also look great. Overall, everything works very well together. The background music is relaxing with a touch of mystery and eerie sounding tunes and gives the feel of exploring an alien planet. The gameplay is simple in the beginning and you can easily figure out how the towers should be placed, and each level will only take a few seconds to complete. Later, as you keep moving to new levels, new mechanics and obstacles are added and this task becomes increasingly more difficult, but in most cases you can figure it out through trial and error after a few minutes. Later you’ll unlock two new game modes with harder puzzles with different gameplay mechanics. Achievements: How many: 11 Achievements. How much time: Around 3,5 hours, on my own. Less if you follow a guide. Game difficulty: Easy. There are a few harder levels but even if it takes more time most people will figure them out through trial and error. Achievements’ Difficulty: Medium. None are missable but some of the challenge levels won’t be obvious and will require some persistence. If you activate and collect all the objects in each level you will unlock everything by the end of the game. Then, you just need to complete the extra content too. Overall opinion: Mars Power Industries is a great puzzle game for fans of the genre with its own original presentation and gameplay. It starts simple but new mechanics and obstacles will make the final levels harder and will require some persistence to get all the achievements.
