Superb art combined with stellar performances combined with "what on earth did I just read" make this visual novel a fun read.

Marco & the Galaxy Dragon is unlike any visual novel I've read before in that it really feels more like an anime than a visual novel. Besides the animated cartoon-style cutscenes, there are SO many CGs, and in some bits it's almost like watching an animatic. The text is also mostly dialogue. Most visual novels I read will include a lot of prose describing the environment, actions, and the protagonist's inner thoughts. The extent of description in Marco sort of reminds me of stage directions that you'd encounter while reading a play. Even though Marco is the protagonist, we don't see her inner thoughts at all, with the story rather being in a third person perspective. It's a very visual experience, and I'd say this is probably one of the only VNs I can think of that wouldn't lose anything by being adapted into an anime, especially if it retained its beautiful soundtrack and skilled voice actors. There's also only one set of choices, which is to go to the beach or go to an onsen . Even so, I think Marco does a fantastic job of presenting its story, which starts off lighthearted and simple, but takes on some philosophic tones around the climax. I've seen people say this VN is "all style and no substance." I disagree, but maybe I've just watched too much anime. Towards the latter half, it reminded me a lot of anime like FLCL or Flip Flappers where strong sentiments are being told through absurd situations. In this case, I think it was expressing something about the nature of bonds and their relationship with pain and sorrow. Arco made me cry a lot. ( ´ • ω • ` ) It is very weird and very silly, but in my opinion, super charming, so I definitely recommend it to people who are open to weird and silly.

Man this game, like man it really was fun as hell. The people who made this game must've had fun making it, it was enjoyable all throughout my playtime. I loved the animations that played, they always shined with life. The music was also quite nice. Overall I highly recommend you play this game, it's an excellent game to play and have fun with.

Steam seriously needs neutral vote... This game did a very good job at presenting an OK story with some great moments and some fillers, based on a background setting that appears to be vaguely thought out in 5 minutes and never got developed or completed. Would strongly recommended if on enough discount though.

It's a fun tale about family and friendship. It does goes nonsense in a lot of moments but is a good visual novel.
