This game is hard to recommend at the moment. After the recent update didn't bring the attention it needed I fear this game may be heading to it's death. With that said though this game is great. There are two main things I would like to highlight for this game. First the setting and world are amazing taking that WW1-WW2 era style and mashing it together then added scifi works wonders. This shows the most in the maps themselves. The map design is top tier, they flow well, look beautiful and are quite varied. Second the game itself is simple, well in comparison to other extraction shooters, it still has what you want from the genre while not feeling like a slog. The gun play is fun, the AI is ok(could be better) and PVP is a blast. The crafting is solid and very powerful if you take advantage of it. The UI is kinda wack to be honest but once you get used to it, it's fine. Marauders is a game that at the moment feels like a amazing base that could be turned into something amazing but the low attention and low player count will most likely mean this game will die before we get to see that. I'd say get Marauders if you don't mind supporting a small dev team with great ideas and if you don't mind getting into a game on it's way out. Here's hoping I am proven wrong and come to eat my words.

so after a long while in the community i have finally decided to make a review. i've been playing for a while now and frankly, the game is good, obviously it does have more potential. Marauders is a hardcore shooter, most guns will kill you in a couple hits even with body armor, death is permanent and if you don't have a team mate you can't recover any loot. Now let me state this, while loot is something you need for pvp. you can get away with being patient, joining very late, and doing salvage runs. all of which has been intended to help new players get loot. The stamina mechanic and combat feels smooth enough, although there are a couple bugs with hit reg still (especially against AI). looting is a simple system, being slot based. each item takes up 1 square or more. and most of which are 2x2 or smaller except guns and armor. the game also offers good weapon variety, varying from larger rifles, to shotguns, handguns, and even smgs. all of which has their own niche situation. the biggest issue with the game right now is player base, and updates. the devs are a very small team of about 4-6 people and have done what they can, even with a rocky instance with their publisher. And thanks to this game's hardcore nature, it turns away many players due to how punishing it feels at times. with all that, i'd say if anyone reads this review, give the game a chance at least.

I think this game has been getting more hate than it deserves lately. I had put it down for a while so that it can get some balance updates, and coming back to the game has been much more enjoyable than previously. The concept is great; a looter-shooter that takes place in alternate history where World War I continued for 70 years into the space age. The diesel punk environments feel brutal & immersive. Previously, my only gripe about the game was that cheaters and people who do nothing but grind the game have a huge advantage over you. Odds are you'd die to an instant headshot the second you step out your airlock. But balance changes to progression make that far less frustrating during the rare occasions that happens since it's much easier now to unlock decent gear from traders so that you're on more even ground gearing back up after getting wiped. I'd say that the only downside to this game is that it's suffering from Early Access syndrome where players see fewer updates that don't acknowledge every tiny issue they have with the game, so they leave bad reviews and the player count plummets. I say, let them cook, and this will be a great game when it's ready to leave early access if players give it a chance.

Marauders have the potential to be one of the best looter shooters, even in its early access state I have enjoyed every minute of it with my friends. If you are a fan of looter shooter games, I highly recommend trying Marauders as it is not as hardcore as the other games of its genre and loot is easy to come by even if you lose everything at some point. Almost every weapon has the capability to kill a fully geared person with the right aim and timing. Currently there is a decent amount of maps for rotation and PvE bosses with unique drops that requires players to either unlock with a rare key drop or is based on RNG spawn chance. Adding more bosses on new maps will surely add content to the thriving game. Unfortunately the game is not spoken more enough for people to play so queue times may vary for each region. Asia North/South region in particular have a longer wait time. There are some bug fixes I feel that should be fixed as soon as possible are: - Getting a black screen when using the cameras/turrets as the ships are entering the port. (You will be able to hear your surroundings and open your inventory but not see anything) - Not being able to move the cursor upon spawn (Current self-fix is to use the turrets / pilot the ship or change resolution and alt tab at the same time) - Very uncommon game crashes (Does not happen often but it hurts as you lose everything you brought, if the Devs are able to have a reconnect function it will be really great)

Not going to lie, initially I didn't like Marauders, I actually bought and refunded this game, so if you are thinking about this game please read because you might be like me. Prior to even seeing this game I had clocked up over two thousand hours on Escape from Tarkov and after many factors including not having the time to grind up skills I switched to DMZ, being more of an arcade version of Tarkov, more fun than that adrenaline pumping, the lack of "gear fear" was kind of a boring factor to it, not saying I'm the best but there was nothing to risk and the reward was lesser and after MW3 came out I thought DMZ 2 would be the best thing ever, needless to say I was dissapointed. Personally I had an itch that needed to be scratched, after trying Hunt Showdown, The Cycle, Dark and Darker and Ghosts of Tabor I still needed it and thus I purchased Marauders. Looking back on it now my initial complaints were silly as I've experienced it in so many other games; no maps, no idea what I'm doing, the traders being locked and no idea how to unlock them, where on earth I find junk scrap for the first mission in "Zero to hero" the main mission line. After about 1 and a bit hours of gameplay I decided to give up not seeing the enjoyment in it and was again left to other games, the itch unscratched. A week or so later I was watching some Youtube and there was a beginners guide for Marauders and I watched, more out of curiosity but I think subconsciously I think I knew I wanted to play more and thought back to the amount of research and learning all of Tarkov, the hours playing so I could learn the maps and that I think is what I wanted to do again. I repurchased the game and I was getting slammed, bots, teams of players and PVP that I was not familiar with all the nuances but after grinding it a bit and learning from my mistakes it was a rush, the reward to my simple brain of finding that exotic gear and then having that panic of having to stash it like a squirrel in my stash or do I use this and keep going, and that, was it, that feeling that not many other games capture, Marauders has done it. Not only is there the initial rush of getting from your ship into a point of interest or dog fighting and breaching other players ships and then having the double rush of going further or having to be exposed again, I was hooked and you will be too, the double downing of fight or flight (literally) in different ways is excellent and all the losses will feel bad but it doesn't take that many to make it all back and it's much more rewarding. The atmosphere in each point of interest you go to the sound and level design sets the tone so well, it's a ghost town but though the environment the story is written, from a couple of dead bodies behind a gate that has been hit with a now derelict vehicle put its out there that, something bad has happened here, and now you're there in it again, the slight horror tone and with the noises of the station creaking, an old record playing along with footsteps coming from somewhere you aren't 100% sure of make it an overwhelming sensory experience. If you like/d Tarkov or games like it but the grind requirement has hit you too much or the feeling is gone you need to get this game, it's unreal.
