The fact that Rockstar is selling a pirated copy of their own game that won't play by default is kind of sad and also funny. The patch installation takes only a minute and then the game will give you no issues and plays perfect with very few glitches. This is a difficult, frustrating game that starts out seeming overly simplistic but has nuance to the game play that requires many hours to truly master. The plot of the game in itself is kind of brilliant, as it's about a murderer on death row who is set free only to be forced to be part of a snuff film for a wealthy executive. The game takes place in Carcer City, which is the city near Liberty City in Grand Theft Auto, so it's fair to say that this is GTA game to some extent, even though you don't use any vehicles except a crane at one point. It's overall very well designed and feels kind of like a horror game just because the premise is so disturbing. Whenever the game play starts to get repetitive the scenery and objectives change enough to make it feel different. The whole game takes place across a single night and a lot of the sequences are "one hit kill" scenarios that will force you to restart over and over until you figure out the enemy placements. Normally in a game like this the "glory kills" get repetitive as they're fixed cutscenes, but in this game they're so brutal and disturbing that I still felt myself wincing many hours after playing. You're supposed to hide in the shadows and pick off targets for most of the game. The stealth is easy but the combat is difficult. There is a cover system that you are supposed to use but it occasionally gets buggy. There's a lot of nuance to this as you have to use the weapon you have to your advantage. If you have a shotgun you want to lure the enemy into close range and pop out and shoot. If the enemy has a double barrel shotgun, you can dodge to get them to force to reload and move into their cover and take them out. Certain weapons like the uzi and AR are instakill so you must use stealth to evade them. It's really well designed and while the graphics aren't great they have that "early 2000s" game charm that makes it really feel like you're playing an old GTA game. In fact, this whole game feels like one of the side chain missions you'd pick up in Grand Theft Auto. The only thing I wish the game did differently was provide the player with some kind of explosive weapon. You often have a whole room of enemies clustered together and it would be really satisfying to throw a grenade in or plant C4, but you can't do that. Once you beat the game there's actually many more hours of potential game play if you want to get five stars in each mission. To do this you have to get a certain number of grotesque kills (Stalk the enemy until the reticle turns red) and beat the level in a certain amount of time. It's suprisingly hard and took me about 15 hours to actually complete because some of the requirements are ridiculous and you have to manage speed in a game that requires stealth. There are no achievements, as this was just a lazy cash grab by Rockstar to put this on Steam without any effort, but the core game is so much fun I stopped caring about the poor method it was put on Steam and just focused on enjoying a great game that holds up very well 20 years after its release.

If you bought this game on Steam, you've successfully downloaded a pirated copy of Rockstar's Manhunt. If you bought this game on steam and try to play it, it will never launch. If you do get it to somehow launch, you will get hit by Rockstar's anti-piracy measures preventing you from progressing past 5 minutes. You are playing a pirated copy after all. Maybe next time do not download a pirated game from Steam. hope you learned your lesson. Ironically, this happens because Rockstar attempted to "fix" the .exe when Windows Vista+ came out due to the old one not being able to launch. Ok, so what you have to do to actually play this mess is download Ermaccer's ManhuntFixer and extract it. You then open the fixer and point it to your Manhunt Steam library (Theres an automated button for this in the program) and click "Patch". You've now fixed Manhunt on Steam and can finally play Razor's cracked version of it without any issues. After installing the patch, I was able to play through the game without a single crash or any issues. The game does get very difficult near the end but having some extra precision with the mouse aiming helped just a little bit instead of having to press X to shoot like in the PS2 version. If you actually are a fan of Manhunt and can get this for $3.50 I'd say go ahead and grab it as long as you know how to use File Explorer to patch it.

An absolute classic. I played this originally back in 2003 on PS2 and it always stuck with me as a great horror game. Never got around to actually beating it on PC until just now because of the easy Community Hub Download for Win 10/11. Runs perfect with 1 easy download.

what a game. Rockstar will never make another game like this or its sequel. Manhunt is an ode to 90's gaming when developers were tired of games that were catered to children and not adults. Rockstar dropped this gem in 2004 and even some team members were not thrilled about working on this game. Either way we have a piece of gaming history that we will never be able to replicate again without causing even more controversy than it did back in 2004. If you do wanna try out Manhunt then before playing you MUST install Manhunt Fixer patch online which will fix soooooo many issues with the base pc game. Enjoy and happy hunting <3
