Very nice and wholesome game if you like cute and funny anime girls. Dialogue can be a bit of a slog to get through at times, but that's because It has lots of attention to detail, respects your intelligence, and has good writing and story telling. If you like trains then Maitetsu has many references to real events and trains and contains a lot of real and accurate information on them which I thought was very cool and authentic. Maitetsu has very nice characters that all get their own routes and have a lot of time to shine, oh and the music is wonderful too. One important thing to be aware of though is that the steam version is censored, so if you want the good stuff you'll need to go to other store fronts to purchase DLC separately, becuase you probably won't be able to find that for free. Depending on where you go, you could get an uncensored version with the DLC already included, so i'd recommend just getting the game from there instead. If you don't mind the extra hassle, it's not too hard to patch the steam version. Just make sure you already know where you're going to get the DLC and patches from if you plan on going that route before buying to spare your nerves! I used JAST to purchase the DLC and was able to find demosiac patches fairly easily for free. Many people suggest FAKKU but i tried that route and it didn't seem to work in 2026, you might need to wait for a good while for an option to appear in your account settings on FAKKU that allows you to see controversial content. Check that, and the DLC might pop up somewhere on FAKKU, but it was too much trouble for me and it took me some time to figure all this out so I just used JAST which worked out really well. It has multiple very nice and animated cgs for each girl, but it takes a while to get there. The common route that you start the game on has some spicy shots here and there, but no seggs until the end of each girls route, very worth it though. I like maitetsu a lot and think its worth picking up if you don't mind reading a lot and nerding out on trains or getting a little philosophical, with some in universe politics and simple economics thrown in!!!

Never in my life playing such a gorgeous visual novel. What you got are: beautiful characters, background scenery, heartwarming story, etc. Simply put, if you like vn, this should be one of the vn that i recomended most. 10/10!

The best I could describe Maitetsu would be a playable Wikipedia page about trains and train terminology, and I will say that if you planning to play this as your first ever visual novel, you shouldn't even consider it since it recquires you insane amount ot patience and reading time to get the story to unfold. Which would roughly mean the entire common route + around Half of any of the main routes. The game recquires you to really like Slice of Life as a genre, since it doesn't try to get from A to B unlike most VNs but rather take the time to talk about a world where transport via trains seem to be dying out in a fictional Japan. The premise is great, and cute, the animation on the sprites is crazy good but I do have to say that even with having read 3 routes by the time I make this review, the conclusion isn't as satisfying each time around, especially for the Side routes. Regarding the H-scenes, they are really well made, and insane, but the fact that they unlock after each route and not included in the story is kinda good and bad at the same time. Good since I do feel like the story would be ruined, but bad since for example Hachiroku has 9 H-scenes in a row. And that just feels bloated and pointless even if all the H-scenes got equally as much attention as the main game. I do say that however, that Maitetsu Last Run!!'s After stories are much more needed as the romance as an aspect is the only thing that kind of non-existent. Altough I recommend this game, it is a 7.5 for me, maybe Last Run will change that, but rn I am focused on getting the 100% on the OG.
