Lust from Beyond: M Edition A Toned-Down Horror Still Full of Dread Lust from Beyond: M Edition strips away the explicit sexual content found in the original release, but the psychological horror and eerie atmosphere remain intact. The game still immerses players in a grotesque world inspired by the works of Lovecraft and Giger, but it treads more carefully when it comes to eroticism, making it more approachable for a broader audience. Story and Setting You still take on the role of Victor Halloway, a man plagued by disturbing nightmares that lead him to the creepy town of Bleakmoor. His descent into a world of lust, death, and horror remains unsettling, though the explicit imagery has been toned down. The game's core narrative, driven by a twisted mystery and otherworldly exploration, is just as gripping as ever. Atmosphere and Visuals While the erotic elements are censored or removed, M Edition doesn’t lose the grotesque and nightmarish visuals that define the Lust from Beyond experience. Lusst’ghaa, the alternate dimension shaped by desire, still feels oppressive and alive. The horror atmosphere, influenced by surreal, organic designs, is enough to provoke fear without relying on graphic content. Gameplay and Puzzles The puzzles and exploration are still present, though streamlined. The game follows the same path as the original in this regard, with relatively easy puzzles at first and more challenging ones later. Unfortunately, the inspection mechanic remains underutilized—though it's fun, it doesn’t add much to the overall experience. Combat and Enemy Encounters Combat plays out similarly to the original, with an emphasis on survival. You’re encouraged to run and hide rather than fight, and even when armed, the tension from earlier on can disappear once you’re wielding a weapon. Some of the game’s boss encounters stand out, but others feel somewhat underwhelming. Final Thoughts Lust from Beyond: M Edition manages to deliver an atmospheric horror experience that is still deeply unsettling, even without the explicit content. The game’s narrative, eerie environments, and psychological dread remain intact, making it a good option for those who want a disturbing journey without the more graphic elements. The plot and the universe are really good, some UX details are very good. But I was disappointed by the fact that you can't go back on your choices. If you are playing of a HDD, the loading time between scenes will be long.

Lovecraft and Giger are strong themes for me, and this game has not disappointed! I absolutely loved the story and the visuals. Especially the alien realm of Lusst'ghaa was stunning, I was taking wallpaper screenhots at every corner. Only some gameplay mechanics like the combat are somewhat clunky. But that doesn't deter much from the overall unique atmosphere. I didn't have the feeling that the censored version has mitigated my experience - actually I am glad they made this version, because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to play this game at all in my country. All in all definitely a recommendation! I hope they do another game with a similar setting in the future!
