Let's begin with the positives :- - Addictive - Good controls - Good art/themes - Great price on sale Now onto the negatives :- - Scaling is non-existant, everything depends on luck and you dodging bullets - Difficulty scaling is kind of absurd, its like a cashgrab arcade. One moment you clear the whole screen, the other moment three aircraft with predictive aim start to chase you down as the elite units spawn. - Despite the touted 125 combinations, they're rather lackluster, 3 modifiers with 5 options, so 5*5*5 is how you get that 125 number, don't let it fool you, realistically only maybe 5 of those combinations are viable enough to run. You unlock 4 from each row very easily, and the last one takes forever, as of writing this, I still haven't unlocked it while I unlocked the 4*4*4 just 1 hour in. Why am I still recommending this? If, and only if, you get it on sale, its a great time killer when you're taking breaks. You can easily go 5 - 10 runs in under 10 minutes. Would I recommend this on full price? Absolutely not. There are much better options out there that offer a ton of more content and variety in builds as well as better scaling. One such recommendation is Nova Drift while it is a bit more expensive, it is way more value for money. I have over 200 hours in Nova Drift and I still have yet to exhaust all the content and builds that I want to run. Yet in this game, 6.5 hours in and 90% of the game is done. There's nothing to do now but do the same mundane crap again. I'd much rather a modern roguelike than just die in 20 seconds over and over with absolutely nothing changing besides enemy RNG.

After having, with the assistance of God and Indila, killed a cussing BLIMP with the ORIGINAL plane, my life is complete. For 4 minutes and 37 seconds this game turned man into legend, how could I give it anything other than a Steam Yes? Do kinda wish they would experiment with some other game modes. It might be fun if there was multiplayer dogfighting or a survival map with a clock that's enclosed by mountains or smth.

--originally played on playstation vita-- i've already spent hours in this game, and felt like buying it on steam when it went on sale. this game is incredibly fun and addicting, the gameplay is smooth and top notch, and once you pick it up, you can never put it back down until you've sunken hundreds of ships and jets, it's insane just how refined this game is compared to its flash-based predecessor. the soundtrack, as well. it adapts with every ship you unlock, making for many, many MANY different combinations. it sounds incredibly good, impactful but subtle effects like the music increasing in volume and echoing when you're almost dead are hard hitting and feel amazing. blasting down enemies makes you feel incredibly powerful along with the music, the pixel art style is simple yet very distinct and optimal for a shoot em up like this. it all feels incredibly designed, and i'd say it's worth the money, even at its regular price.

'Luftrausers' is an entertaining arcade shooter that is a lot of fun due to the numerous variations. The game only requires 5 keys to play. The arrow keys and X. But that's more than enough. Each game lasts a few minutes, or longer depending on how good you are. You play a plane that consists of 3 individual parts that you can change and unlock, which always opens up new possibilities to defeat the hordes of planes and ships, which is the primary goal of the game. Definitely worth buying for a few bucks.

if you for some reason dont have this and you can stomach a bullet hell game done sideways then this is a great game despite age. I can't praise the rough 'bullets everywhere' action enough. Great game to pick up and go even after a long pause. There is always something to aim for with different missions coming up when using different ship combos.
