When I purchased Lootun, my expectation was an idle game slightly more involved than Progress Quest. In a sense, it started this way -- you create a character, plop him into the Woodlands, and you watch with amusement as he whacks rats and wolves. It's the standard fare, and soon enough you have a few shiny pieces of gear and enough resources to hire a motley crew of three. Maybe it would get a bit more than this, but how far would $5 take you? The answer, of course, was a grand journey through forests, tombs, and demonic lairs. Soon enough the rag tag crew hits level 100 and ascendancy maps, and your journey managing loot and map specializations suddenly takes a small turn. Now you have actual builds to uncover, a trusty band of retainers, and a blacksmith that lets you customize gear. Not long after, you scrounge the resources to hire a whole new crew who runs in parallel with the first. Now your gear starts to get more complex, and that boss killed that character who had 0 fire resist. Oops, guess you have to think now. On the journey goes, and before you know it 50 hours have passed and you have five crews running, gunning for that sixth, as you've made it through bounty maps, agony missions, and now have some actual challenges in faction dungeons. A little further, and now your groups of three can become groups of six and do MMO-style raids -- only to get raked on your first attempt. Suddenly, all these garbage you've accumulated starts to make sense. You need coherent team play, detailed builds with cohesion to meet dps checks, tank checks, and with sufficient utility to stop raid mechanics from overwhelming you. 100 some hours later (with a thankful wide berth for idling if you set runs up the right way -- great when magaging kiddos or a spouse on the side), and I'm finally just about "done." I've got heroic raids complete, moving on to endless runs, and I still have just a few things to actually complete. While I have not been the most efficient in my time, the fact that a game this fundamentally simple could capture my attention for this long, and do so with an actually enjoyable mix of tactics, strategy, "numbers go brrrr", and intricate crafting system mixed with an interesting stat tree, is really quite astounding. Contrary to all the complaints about QoL, I feel like the game actually has a remarkable amount of it. Yes, there are a lot of screens to bounce back and forth with...but the game spoonfeeds these to you at spaced out intervals. The crafting system even has some spooky Zuckerberg level mind-reading features where it predicts the stat allocations you want and remembers them as you mass craft things like gems on a character, and the in-game glossary has absolutely everything about the game indexically catalogued for quick and easy reference. Easily one of the most exceptional sleeper titles I've come across that ticks all the boxes people who loved POE (before The Vision) and MMOs like WoW/FFXIV would enjoy. Outside of some minor quirks, it's really a well polished, enjoyable title. Definitely recommend to those who fit into its niche.

If you take satisfaction over bars moving in the right directions due to how you have built a synergistic and unstoppable team, then this is a game that you will find fun. If, however, you don't, then you won't. Thumbs up from me - <£5 spent, >9 hours played. Meets the spend criteria. EDIT: I was sceptical to keep playing, but as I had very little time to game I did so with this title. What I actually discovered was a very well enabled mid/end game. Oddly enough, most RPGs fail at endgame - this one shines. Ok; yeah, it's still about bars moving left to right or visa versa, but at any game's heart the maths is the same - you just add the pretty interface. This has a 1980s interface, but all the mechanics are incredibly solid. It's still idle to an extent, but the builds you make make a massive difference. I am quite blown away how clever this game actually is, once you progress far enough. Not Gatcha, not random, doesn't ask you to spend more, but it 100% makes you sit there in spare moments and think about how you can min/max your build. I've moved this from a flippant 6/10 due to price and basic GUI to a 9 or even 10. I am impressed, which is a rare thing that I am very happy with!

This game is really the ultimate Loot "idle". I almost want to say I wish melvor idle's combat and loot systems are like this game, except it wouldn't be possible because even though the game is described as an "Idle" game, I Cannot. Stop. Looting. (in a good way) The game throws you a ton of loot (like almost 1 per second) and a bunch of auto-filters that help greatly with the process. You can play it as an idle game and let the game's natural looted stats form your upgrade path, which is probably a more chill way to play, or you can go really heavily indepth and spend your materials to modify and reroll your loot pieces yourself to make really obscene pieces that won't see an upgrade for HOURS. The craziest part? The game doesn't just want you to build 1 team. It starts out with 1, 2, 3 characters, and just when you thought you've happy with the way your team looks, the game throws you AN ENTIRE SECOND TEAM TO GEAR. And I believe that in the end-endgame, you can have even more than these 2 full teams. Or you can gear your characters well enough to solo stages all on their own, and have a ton of dungeons ongoing. Some of the other reviews have pointed out this is actually a nightmare for them. Well, I'm unsure if this was only added recently, but if you are not interested in manually working out upgrades for your characters at all (and just want to feel the joy of picking up overpowered "Divine" gear), there is a button next to your inventory that lets you auto-select the best upgrades based on gear you looted - I use this fairly often even playing the game actively. It doesn't take into account what you can reroll via the blacksmith, but it is a significantly more chill way to enjoy the game without worrying too much about the stats. Ultimately, the game lets you choose how much real-time you want to spend on it. If you've only got 5-10 minutes a day, I'm pretty sure you would be happy loading up your save to press buttons, see how far you can take it on a new dungeon, and log off. Or you can spend every minute looking through gear like me and play your heart out. Lootun!

cool game. one of the best idle games there is... but the biggest issue i have with it, is the fact that you have 4 different parties that you 'have' to maintain... i honestly would have preferred it if the game was balanced around only having a single party, instead of 4 different ones. the entire 'rpg fantasy' would have been much more engaging then and it would have been much less of a freaking headache to play the game then. i can recommend the game, but only to those who LOVE min-maxing. this is NOT a casual game.
