Summary: I don't typically write reviews but I felt that this game warranted one since I basically played it non-stop. Overall, I would recommend this cute, charming, and addictive game but probably not at full price. Pros: [*]Gameplay: Simple but fun! This game feels like if you simplified Powerwash Simulator and Slime Rancher and combined them into one game. Great keyboard & mouse controls and satisfying gameplay loop. In true cozy game fashion, this game is not very difficult and doesn't really have any threats or challenges except for "don't run out of oxygen" and even if you do, you just respawn at the homebase and have to pick up so items from where you were. [*]Style: The artstyle of this game is adorable! Everything is filled to the brim with charm and is the main appeal of this game. [*]Story/Progression: This game does have an underlying story that's fairly simple and as you would expect. This didn't bother me because I didn't expect a game like this to have a unique or thrilling story anyways. As far as progression, there are objectives that need to be completed in order to unlock upgrades and enter new areas, but the game doesn't prevent you from going off exploring as long as your equipment can handle it. [*]Music/Sound Design: Ambient, subtle, nice! No complaints here. Cons: [*] Short for the price : I 100% completed this game in 11.8 hours including all achievements and fully cleaning the whole map. While I personally think this game being too long would have been a slog, $20 is a lot for a maximum of 12 hours of gameplay with little to no replayability. Definitely wait for a sale and then decide if it's worth your money. [*]Gameplay Nit-picks: Raising loddles could have been worked more. It's basically impossible to get all the different species without a guide and it's frustrating that breeding occurs automatically when it could have had a simple mechanic like Minecraft to give the player more control. Also, structures are basically useless except for the oxygen recharge and even then, you only need one to take around with you and put down when you need. Instead, decorations or more upgrades would have been better for the player. Also-also, I don't see why we couldn't have a late-game upgrade that gives permanent boost without the stamina, just to make the ending feel less slow.

Note: Game does not have any enemies, so players with thalassaphobia, try to enjoy. Clean the sea and sea floor from pollution, plastics and metal junk a like with new gadgets and upgrades. Find new axolotl-like alien friends; Feed, clean, and take them to your base to look after and play with. Eventually you might want to release them back to sea. Comes with cozy setup and super cute graphics, relax, and take it easy. Let the beats take all current worries away and become one with the sea. Really hope to see a Loddlenaut 2 (not confirmed anywhere yet). Game had such an impact, that it made me to donate to local marine support organization of our Baltic Sea to keep it clean. Final score: 10/10

In the game Loddlenaut, you take on the role of an interstellar custodian who cleans up pollution left by a mega corporation on an alien planet. Sounds familiar? There is something really satisfying about cleaning up floating litter, microplastics and gloop in an underwater environment. Plus watching the transformation caused by all your hard work. Along the way you encounter Loddles, simple cute creatures who help you to pollinate and cleanse the planets ecosystem. You feed the baby Loddles, watch them through their metamorphosis into adults, entertain them and pat them. Once a region is completely free of all pollution, you introduce the Loddles to the biome and they reproduce and fend for themselves. As you collect trash, you can convert it into usable bits which you can trade for more oxygen, lights, vacuum cleaner, new wetsuits etc etc. There is bit of management to do here and being the first game I've played of this type, it took me a while to get the hang of it. There is quite a bit of travelling around, but once you have portable oxygen rings, things become easier to manage. Once you 100% a biome, fast travel is introduced between certain locations. I found the game quite addictive and time just whizzed by and twice I was up at 2am in the morning not having a clue how late it was!! It is such a cute and wholesome game to play and absolutely suitable for children. Nothing scary at all. Gameplay was WASD and both buttons on the mouse. It can be repetitive, but you get rewarded for it. There are no speedruns....just watch your oxygen levels. You are taken back to the home cove when you die and lose all litter you were carrying. I died many times as I'm an expert at it!! Music was lovely and gentle and non intrusive. It really adds a peaceful vibe to the game. Graphics are colourful and cute. I struck no bugs and managed to get all achievements bar 2 of them. You continue to play for hours if you wish so you certainly get your money's worth. There is communication between base and yourself and you get a pat on the back! I heartily recommend this delightful and charming game to those who want to make a difference. A small percentage of this game goes towards the Whale and Dolphin Corporation. Check out the demo! 9/10

I really enjoyed this game. It was relaxing and the gameplay was lovely. However, for only 4 hours of gameplay and 0 replay ability, I don't think that it was worth the price at 24.99 CAD... I wish there was more to do.

I really wish there was an option to give a game a neutral recommendation, because while this isn't a bad game, it has a lot of shortcomings that leave me pretty underwhelmed & disappointed. The first and main complaint that I have, is the the Loddles, the main staple of the game and what it is named after, offer practically nothing to the gameplay. Adult Loddles can have specific powers, but I never felt the need to bring them with me anywhere, especially since I didn't want them to spread goop around if I was attempting to clean someplace up. There really is no incentive to interact with the Loddles other than "hehehe cute little guy". My second issue is that the ending was just kind of... nothing. No interesting reveal, no twist, no nothing. You just finish cleaning the planet, and you leave. This especially felt like a slap in the face because some of the holobadges really felt like they were leading up to something. But there's just no payoff, just a bunch of little bits of dialogue that lead nowhere. My final issue is the inventory system. It's practically pointless. The only time you'll probably have to worry about having a full inventory is at the very end of the game, where there's the most diverse amount of trash. It just forces you to go all the way back o the closest fast travel point to dump your inventory, and they only show up in locations AFTER you've cleaned them, y'know, when you've already finished picking up all the items. It isn't a bad game, it just feels like it needs more.
