Really visually stunning game, its a chill platformer that tells a story rather than challenges you too much.

Loved it! It's a small vignette of a game, four hours in total, and it has a very cool premise of the story: you have a definitely unreliable narrator spinning a fairy tale during an interrogation. You never learn what actually happened, but you play the fantasy as it unfolds. I've never seen this point of view in games, and here, I think, it's done very well, the story indeed touches on the tropes you would expect this guy to bring up. The graphics are obviously inexpensive but the artistic style is a perfect match for the game. Unfortunately, I have to kick off a couple of points for clunky platforming (at one point, I spent about ten attempts to press a lever in time, not because it was hard to reach but because the guy had to be positioned just right for the lever pushing button to register, and you didn't have time to try several times) and bugs (one of the levels just completely broke for me, automatically killing me right after respawn, but fortunately restarting the game fixed it). But I still enjoyed this little story very much, and this is exactly the kind of game I'd love to see more of!

Kinda meh. I really liked the atmosphere and the story was okay, but there wasn't much to do except to hold D. The ending fucking sucks and everything fell flat.

Ivan Ivanovich is sent down below the Earth's crust in his capsule the "Little Orpheus" in an attempt to see if there really is land that humans can potentially habitat. 3 years later Little Orpheus is gone, the bomb powering the LO is gone, and now Ivan is being interrogated by General Yurkovoi and now we'll hear about where Ivan really was within these last 3 years and what really happened to Little Orpheus. Let's talk about the gameplay right off the back and uh well it's pretty much a walking simulator with very light puzzles and platforming. Nothing bad, but that's kinda all it is, the good thing with this though is that no matter how old or young you are you can jump right into the title without any real issue, heck you could play the entirety of the game with one hand if needed. Gameplay isn't the reason why you should be playing 'Little Orpheus,' you should be playing for the story and obviously the atmosphere. You go into these levels finding giant dinosaurs, navigating the stomach of a whale, finding a lost civilization, etc, etc, it's a really fun game to go through in this regard. The music is so good, just watch the trailer above, but it really does feel like something out of an Indiana Jones or even sometimes a Star Wars movie, like it is so good and one of the strongest things in Little Orpheus. The story again is good and I'm not gonna spoil it, but I also really love the old cartoon gimmick they do, at the end of each episode a narrator will say things like "Will our intrepid yet doomed hero survive the jaws of the ferocious dinosaur? Will he meet his end, miles underground as an aperitif for a ravenous raptor?" etc, but anyways it is just so fun for them to have done it this way, really does make you feel like a kid watching cartoons. The dialogue between Ivan and Yurkovoi is also really funny at times, Ivan telling these extravagant yet unbelievable scenarios as Yurkovoi isn't buying s**t. I did experience a couple bugs here, not a lot, but it still wasn't a flawless playthrough. Episode 8 the last episode in the main game was where most of the issues happen. You reach a point where the game will spawn an additional Ivan, he doesn't do anything, but you'll continue through all fine and you will start to die, over and over until you eventually fall through the level where you need to quit and restart. After this is didn't happen again, but I can confirm this will happen as it did the exact same thing when I was playing through "The Lost Recordings' mode. Oh replayability, well, there is some. After beating each level you will be able to play these in "The Lost Recordings," you just play through each level collecting orbs, these orbs will grant you some costumes and some concept art of the game with Ivan giving commentary on these. You will not be needing a guide since the game is entirely linear and these orbs will be spawned right in front of you. The mode itself is kinda lame as it's just regoing through the game, but I really did enjoy unlocking the concept art and hearing the commentary from Ivan about different scenarios or "parts of the story he didn't get time to tell," would love to see more of this sorta thing in more games. The TL;DR: Little Orpheus is something I would indeed recommend...... ON A SALE. Yes the story is really good, gives you really great atmospheres, and funny banter between our hero Ivan and Yurkovoi. The gameplay however is a point where I see people just not wanting to grab it and it is understandable, there are people who simply don't like walking simulators no matter how good the story is. The game also takes under 5 hours to complete and even with The Lost Recordings it really is a hard sell at full price. It is however an extremely easy game for people who want another game for achievement hunting. OH it also works flawlessly on Linux for the penguin gang and Deckers.
