Lil Gator game is special. Its a game that can be finished in less then 3 hours, hell I 100 % completed it in 5 hours. The gameplay isn't deep and the story its trying to tell isn't something world bending with deep character motivations. Usually any of those things would be critique points, in this game they are all massive compliments. The vibes in this game are perfect, its relaxing, doesn't pressure you ever, there is no fail state, and it constantly rewards you for being a good person. In lil gator game you play out as a kid trying to connect with people around you. Playing through this it constantly made me realize how jaded I have become at times, I was constantly ready for the game to punish me or to teach me lessons that frustrate me in real life. But the game does its best to make you feel save and rewarded. Every time I thought a choice wouldn't work out, or I wouldn't be able to do something, the game would show me that its alright to think or act the way that I do. There is no map in this game, it uses excellent game design to lead you around the map, every where you go is correct and I constantly felt like I was having an adventure and exploring for fun as if I was young again. No other game comes even close to making me feel this accepted as a person, let alone what real life has to offer. It covers difficult topics we all eventually are made to face, they are lessons I constantly need to remind myself no matter how many times we hear about them. It offers a very polished experience that is fun to play through, it has funny and well written dialogue, it had a very good concept of what it wants to do and executes on that wonderfully. Even after finishing it 1 time you can probably come back to this every couple of years just to have fun and explore, all of this offered at in my opinion a very reasonable price. In the end I give Lil Gator game my highest recommendation possible. I think almost anyone can enjoy this game and that this is something most people should experience.

Such an all round wholesome game! It's like being a kid again and spending a Summer day going on adventure and making new friends. You know...that time when a rock was not just a rock and a stick was not just a stick... :)

This game was kind of adorable. It takes the adventuring aspect of the Legend of Zelda (the characters are literally pretending to have a Zelda style questing adventure), the comfiness of A Short Hike, and the humor of Frog Detective. The result is this little delight of a game. Will admit that there's no challenge, but there isn't meant to be. It does get a little heavy with its lesson at the end of the game, but it needs to wrap up somehow. Game is a little on the short side. First impression play was about 5 hours to beat and an hour to 1 1/2 to complete.

Simple story with simple cartoon style and simple mechanics that somehow become a masterpiece. Huh. Game development must be hard.

Pretty sure this is the first game I've maxed achievements for on Steam. So um, yeah, I liked it quite a bit. Also helped that I could knock out the game and all its achievements in under six hours. Plays like Breath of the Wild (including gliding and shield surfing, but no weapon breaking, thankfully), but with a more youthful and exhuberant main character (Lil Gator is a kid trying to relive his glory days playing with his big sis after all). Kind of funny that the only enemies are static cardboard cutouts but still satisfying to take out and satisfying hunting down all of them scattered about the island (there's hundreds of them). Lots of humorous dialog done very well. I especially like how some of the quests are just 'go pick up that thing two feet away from you' just to kind of play with the idea of making quests. In general I like how most of the quests are pretty localized to the immediate region you're in, you don't have to go running for minutes to get to the place where you need to do the thing. Sometimes I did get a little confused on where I had to go, though, as the instructions are somewhat vague and there's very few landmarks or signs or even names of areas within the game to lead you to where you need to go. I did have to consult Google a couple of times to get some clarity on what I was even looking for a couple times. Also the handful of times that things weren't in the immediate area for a quest threw me a bit, as I'd been conditioned with all the other quests to look just super nearby that I assumed I shouldn't be traveling any further than a certain radius to find what I was looking for. Story is an interesting one as well, about how adults tend to lose their sense of play and fun as they get caught up in what they want to accomplish in the adult world, and why it might still be a good idea to embrace the imagination and fun of our childhood, which I can only relate to all too well now that I'm well into my adult years. Great short playthrough. Check it out if you liked Breath of the Wild and want something a bit different, funny, and quick to 100%.
