Life is Feudal: Your Own" is a medieval sandbox game aimed at players who enjoy realism, crafting, and creative freedom. Developed by Bitbox Ltd., the game offers an authentic medieval experience far removed from typical fantasy RPGs. Instead of dragons and magic, it leans into a highly detailed simulation of medieval life and survival. Here’s my review: Graphics and Atmosphere The graphics in Life is Feudal: Your Own are solid, though not at a triple-A level. The environments are often impressive and immersive, especially with well-designed forests and atmospheric weather effects. The sound design enhances the immersion with realistic ambient sounds like birds chirping, wind rustling, and the occasional hammering or sawing that makes the medieval world come alive. Gameplay and Mechanics The gameplay is intricate and complex, yet slow and demanding – ideal for players seeking a true survival experience. Nearly every action can be controlled: from gathering resources and farming to building and combat. Every stone you lift and every tool you craft has a purpose. The crafting system is especially in-depth, with different professions like blacksmith, carpenter, or hunter to specialize in, providing constant challenges and something new to master. Combat is equally realistic and challenging. Based on timing and skill, it’s not as spectacular as in other games, but it feels authentic. The medieval feudal system is mirrored in the ability to create rules and hierarchies, which adds dynamics and excitement in multiplayer interactions. Multiplayer and Community Multiplayer is one of the game’s highlights. Players can host their own servers and build villages or even entire kingdoms together. The sense of community is strong, though competition is, too. This world isn’t always peaceful – attacks and rivalries are common and make the experience more engaging. However, the multiplayer can be daunting for newcomers, as many mechanics are complex and experienced players often dominate. Drawbacks Life is Feudal: Your Own also has its downsides. The learning curve is very steep, and without guidance, the game can feel overwhelming at first. There are technical issues, too: occasional bugs, server problems, and long loading times can disrupt the experience. The game’s pace – the slow building and constant need for resources – can also become monotonous for some players. Conclusion Life is Feudal: Your Own isn’t for everyone; it’s best suited for patient players looking for a demanding and realistic medieval adventure. For those who enjoy building, gathering resources, and experiencing medieval life, it has a lot to offer. However, if you’re after quick rewards or fast-paced combat, this might not be the game for you. The atmosphere, freedom, and the feeling of living in your own medieval world make Life is Feudal: Your Own a unique experience – if you’re willing to engage with its slow and challenging pace. Rating: 8/10

I have played 1,500 hours of Life is Feudal. That's like 62.5 days. It is equivalent to 9 months on a 40 hour work week job. I like it. I like running my own server for it, too.

A German translation you will find after the english text. Life is Feudal: Forest Villag = FV Life is Feudal: Your Own = YO Life is Feudal: MMO = MMO A word to the negative reviews you can see here on Steam : I think the biggest mistake the devs/publisher has made is that they advertise this game YO like the MMO. If you see the shop page of YO it looks like a inhabited world with towns and villages , NPC and huge battles. This is not what you get. You get a game for YOUR OWN - if you play this game as single player you are the only human on the island. You will never find a town or even a single NPC. You will not find a loot box what give you a cool armor or weapon. This things simple did not exists in this game . You have what you can craft - that is. So the player pay for this game and did not get what they have seen or what they expect. So they give a negative review. If you want to play battles or do quests or with a world full of NPC or expect your own kingdom after a day or two this game is NOT for you. About the game : YO is about finding your own story in medieval world. You start on an island with nothing than a peace of bread. The only goal is to survive. Find something to eat , search for useful things , craft your own tools and start your life. The game is not really helpful for this - the UI is not intuitive. The best you can do is to hit all button and see what happen. Right Click on everything you can or use [Q]. And learn about what you can do with this item. The key [Q] is your only friend - point on an item and click it. Check out the skill tree ( [L] by default). Click on the skills and its progress number 30 , 60 ... and see what skills and reciped you get from this. For example you can build a furnace to smelt the ore early on - but you also need to learn how to use it. This is only possible with a better skill. But the game will not tell you this. The game progress is slow - really slow. To get a town like you see on the image of the shop page it will take weeks or possible month of playtime. If you start the game the first time you need to setup your own server for it. If you play as single player dont use the defaults. Check out the hints for the settings and set everything what slow down the game to higher values . The multiplication for terraforming better set to max and the skill points multiplicator atleast to a much bigger number. You will find limited bugs. Not really important or gamebraking.. For example the rest animation. You can hit 9 ( by default ) to rest and get your max stamina back. Normally the character sit down on the ground for it. But sometimes not - the character simple freeze until you press 9 again and stop resting. Not a problem but still a bug. The build system is like the crafting system - you must find out how it works. If you have played FV than you will find it simple. It is more or less the same. Summary : If you want to life in a medieval worldand this game is for you. If you like to play for your own with out other player this game is for you. If you search for a really relaxing game - this is for you. You must be wiiling to find out things and simple let it go. This game will never force you to do something. If you dont like this - this game is not for you. Also geben viele leider eine negative Bewertung ab.

The game can be quite enjoyable. With that being said, do yourself a favour and use the console commands to max out your character stats. There is very little point playing the game with the intended grind in 2024 as there are just not enough players and if you really wanted to do that there are newer games on the market that facilitate such activity. Gone are the days of going out logging, only to have arrows wiz past you followed by an ensuing skirmish. These days you will be fighting nature itself - wolves, bears, starvation. Unless you have a LARGE (20+) and DEVOTED friend group to play with you, you will be playing this game as a dubious survival against nature, quasi sim. If that it your deal, then I can recommend this game, otherwise I would say give it a miss.
