I LOVE THIS GAME!!! it's a really good mix between a good ol' simulation / business management game, but also has morality points and different upgrades based on routes you choose, plus it's a collectors dream since you can splice animals, mixing and matching to catch 'em all kind of thing. the only little irk i have is that some of the mechanics of the game are not fully explained, with a lack of tutorials or information. usually wouldn't be an issue because surely you can look up your questions online or on the wiki right? WRONG. there are barely any informational pages about the mechanics in this game - i actually had no idea how much i relied on online forums and stuff until it wasn't available omg. 70+ hrs and i still don't understand how the vending machines or farming stuff works, or what the symbols above the customers mean, or why the lines to my stores are out the door. the bright side is im still thriving i guess even without the knowledge? but i'd still like to know :( either way, still a really cute and good game. hopefully the more people that play, the more populated the wiki and stuff will become (please fellas) edit: I have one other little thing to mention which I wasn't originally cuz I thought I was just bad at the game but after reading others reviews it looks like I'm not alone - the bigger your zoo gets, the more you unlock and the more you progress, the game actually gets harder in the sense that there is WAY more micromanaging to do but not enough upgrades to actually help with them. I end up spending my entire day just on the breeding/splicers and that leaves me to forget to check the adoption thingy, if a streamer comes in, a health inspector, etc. it just becomes too much to do :( again though, very very cute and enjoyable game, I certainly had a blast with my 80ish+ hours, but something to keep in mind for a future game i suppose!

A very nice game, but unfortunately some achievements can only be achieved by buying the DLC's. Despite, very great game!

I debated on this game for a bit before buying it, and I'm really glad that I did. I love that you can decorate and design your zoo however you like (though with some restrictions) and you can choose between running a very moral or a very evil zoo. Pros: The game gives you a fair amount of creative freedom to design how you like, though a lot of items are locked behind research points. However, it's very easy to simply let the game run and collect money and points while doing other things. You only have to be present to close the save box and a couple pop-ups right after, but most of the day runs on it's own. There are a lot of hilarious references to pop culture and celebrities that give me a good laugh. There are also a lot of unexpected twists that take you by surprise and can give you a good laugh as well. (Like if you 'accidentally' put your welfare officer in the snake pen) You feel a sense of accomplishment getting a good score, though the punishments for scoring poorly aren't so harsh that it's discouraging. Though, if you WANT to get a bad score, you can as well. You have that freedom to be evil if you wish. I find I can sink hours into the game just decorating, rearranging, and working on my zoo. For me, the decorating aspect is my favorite, more so than the tycoon aspect. This game has given me a lot of laughs. Though I am half torn between laughing or being annoyed at the UFOs stealing my cows. I like how, despite it being a game with a lot of aspects that are not based on how things work in reality, there are a lot of things that are. I find the habitat and threat aspect very interesting. (I also had a lot of fun putting animals in time out for threatening other animals in their pen) Cons: The enrichment system can be infuriating. If you get a baby born in the zoo, if you don't add another toy within a short window, visitors complain and you are flashed reminders on the side to increase enrichment. Then, you will often get 'zookeepers blocked' messages because you have so many things in the pen they can't clean. 1 toy per animal is a bit over the top and makes the pens so cluttered and messy. I've gotten to a point where I just start getting rid of animals in a pen instead of adding a ton more ugly toys. Getting a variety of animals is very, very slow and even 70+ hours in I've still got barely any variety from when I've started. The amount of other zoos on the map is very small, and you cannot get new animals until you complete the current trade request. So if you do not have an animal a zoo wants, you are stuck until you do. This is frustrating when you want variety. Building can be infuriating at times, and you cannot move your map when you have the toolbar open to add buildings, paths, decor, etc. This can be very frustrating if you are trying to build a long path or make something symmetrical because you are forced to close the toolbar, slide your map open, and go through all the icons again to pull up what you need. It can get very tiring opening and closing the toolbar when trying to decorate because of this. The building box pop-up on the right hand side is also very large and can often block things you are trying to put down. You are given tons of shops to put down in your zoo...except the visitors seem allergic to most of them and they end up with little-to-no visitors. You often end up taking a loss because you are paying employees more than you earn from the shop. If there is some kind of trick to enticing customers, you are not told. Like many aspects of the game, you are left to figure it out on your own. This can be a frustration or fun depending on what type of person you are. If you like analyzing those sorts of things, messing with building placement and trying to figure out how to lure in customers, it can be fun. My wishes for the game: More variety of flooring, and/or edging for flooring. Fences! Unless these are still locked behind research points, I hate that there are no fences. It makes it hard to block off large areas from visitors. A better design system, or at least be able to move the screen over while putting items down to not have to open and close the toolbar. More uses for morality points More zoos to trade with
