I've never played Factorio, and I don't care about it ~ A beautifully crafted, cat-themed management game enhanced by machine learning to automate your economy. No enemies, zero pressure, and completely fail-tolerant - there are no 'wrong' decisions; you just learn and improve as you go. Your goal is to make cats happier by selling cat-related products like yarn, milk, cat houses, laser pointers, etc. These products can be directly harvested, traded, or crafted through production chains. To please the cats and satisfy their growing demands, you'll build a lot, and as you learn more about the game, you will learn to do it more efficienlty. You'll have minimal guidance, so expect independent problem-solving (I consider this a plus, but if you don't like it - keep in mind the game is intentionally designed this way). Oh, and if possible, play in Russian—you'll enjoy the easter eggs! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3440989167 My nitpicks: - Some external machine learning resources lack clear prerequisites; children & beginners might feel overwhelmed. Once you research a new building, you'll find it in the in-game wiki, which sometimes has links to resources explaining how the technology helps you in-game and its real-life relevance (similar to while True: learn()). These resources often include videos about machine learning—great to play in the background while you're optimizing your factory. Although the game's page states these resources were manually selected, some might not be easy to follow. If you're unsure whether your knowledge of sigmoid functions or the chain rule is fresh enough to deeply grasp linear regression after that CS2 match, don't worry, you're not alone. Some videos can be understood by kids, while others require calculus knowledge. These "handpicked educational videos" vary widely in difficulty and style (same goes for wikipedia articles), coming from multiple content creators. I'd prefer if luden.io created their own content just to ensure consistency. - I understand, targeted advertising fits perfectly with the game's ML-driven mechanics (learning about cat "types", "attributes", needs, and showing them "the right ads at the right time"). However, as someone who dislikes predatory marketing practices (profiling and targeting people just to maximize profit), it slightly ruins the experience for me in this cute cat game. You don't have to play this way but using these methods definitely boosts ur profits.

I'm not recommending the game, but feel bad leaving negative review. Okay, as a Factorio veteran (merely 1k hours) I want to notify that this is not a good factory game. It both fails to explain core concepts AND have an unreasonably high but bland logistic difficulty. The core loop looks simple: you sell goods in the shops, obtain money, research new tech. However, to have a good shop you need to bring into it 6 (!) belts - one with cat, 5 with goods. and you need multiple shops with different goods if you want to be effective. That's crazily complex. Factorio, DSP, Satisfactory, Shapez 2 rarely have more than 3 item input. Yes, ultra-hardcore Factorio mods could have 6, 12, even more. But that's on totally different level, with double-sided belts, lots of additional mechanics and options, on the most complex mods many hours after you start those (usually after hundreds of hours in the base game). Here you have that complexity from the get-go, with no tools, crazily little space and without even understanding the newer concepts of this game. And by saying crazily little space - yes, while the space is fully terraformable (much later in the game) its mostly resembles puzzle-like Factorio scenarios where you are trying to cramp an industry in a smallest area possible. The problem is not in the routing of the belts. If anything, ability to do underground routing adds some fun. The problem is overall crampiness of the level for the tasks required. I've measured the map: initially open inner part is somewhat 200 by 200 cells, That's what, 8 by 8 Factorio chunks? one/10th of a single Dyson Sphere Program planet? 1/4 of one level of starting satisfactory plains? And those cells are filled with unbuildable water and untraversable cliffs, which limits build ever more. Cliffs which don't serve anything except block the progress, and even that is a soft block, because you've got a concrete underground literally as soon as you unlock it.. Player have almost no space to reiterate, to test ideas, to rebuild anew, it's constant fighting with space to breathe and build. Second problem is non-determinism and problem with prediction. Which of the 3 belt input will be fed in a single X belt crossroad? God only knows. How many cotton will this shop require? Good luck calculating that. What will be the output of this cotton farm? Unknown. How many cats will visit my factory next hour? Ask them... oh, wait, they can't talk, they are cats. What will be the output of scientist A vs B? How much money per lab I need? How fast the technology will be complete? None of the question has answer player could do. That limiting all the strategies for one: overbuild. Which strangely NOT too convinient when your space is overcramped. It's impossible do sushi, you cannot realistically mix the belts, except different quality items. It's impossible to calculate just-in-time supply. Direct insertion helps a little, but could not realistically overcome, because grow your DI chain for couple of building and here you are, stuck into water or cliff. Last, but not least is the lack of intesive and motivation. As far as we know, player character has no reason to stay at KOTOVOD, no reason to feed data, no reason to sell anything to cats - except maybe the compulsive wish to see end of the tech tree. Professor'z comicz also vague "no time to explain, build more".

It’s Factorio. With Cats. And a lot of the best quality of life features from Factorio baked right into the game. It’s three years old and I’m only hearing about this game now. Every Factorio player should be made aware of this game. It’s smaller, more manageable, more casual and more approachable, but still with good depth AND FUCKING CATS!!!

There's a lot that I really like about this game. It's got a few rough edges, but overall I enjoyed my time with it and am looking forward to the final release. A lot of the reviews give the impression that this is a dumbed-down factorio. It may have been at one time, but things are different, now. There are a ton of different goods to craft, and each one has alternate recipes, usually to increase quality. Each good has 3 quality levels. It has 8 base cats and way more legendary cats, all of which want different goods. Additionally, they can have different loyalty levels, which require higher-level goods. It could take you hundreds of hours (and millions of cooked brain cells) to assemble a factory that satisfies every cat (if it's even possible). Additionally, there is a massive research tree with a dozen endless researches, as well as a NG+ mode, which serves as a kind of final goal, and it's a massive project that is repeatable if you're feeling froggy. It's kind of like the rocket launches in factorio, but bigger. Additionally, all of the resources are infinite, and most can be placed wherever you want (cotton fields, tree farms, fishing spots, etc.), which is cool. The underground layer is a cool touch, as well, where you can produce different, underground-only goods. Oh, and there's terraforming! I also really like the research system, though I didn't really grok it until I was toward the end. There are some things I wish were different, though. You'll need belts for pretty much everything. There are zeppelins, and they help for low-volume goods, but they're way slower than belts. No drones or trains, so you'd better be a master planner to route all your resources properly. Remember those dozens of goods with 3 quality levels each? Yeah, you'll need a massive amount of belts to make that happen. Oh, the cats are also on belts, so you'll need to have some pretty intricate cat routing plans, too. You'll also want multiple lanes of cats for peak productivity. Oh, did I mention the map size is limited? The underground layer helps with that, but sometimes you can paint yourself into a corner if your routing isn't top-notch (mine isn't). Finally, the ML is a little janky. I've had trouble with the models, but you're never forced to use them (though they do seem to activate on their own now and then), and the issue goes away once you get far enough in the research tree. The final ML model performed worse than the penultimate model for me, but that may be due to my factory being too simple for it to flex its power. I confess I got a little lazy toward the end of my playthrough. The developers are active and responsive, and judging by the roadmap, they're pretty close to full release. There are some bugs left to iron out, but I'll cut them some slack, since it's still EA. If you're a factory game connoisseur, this game has a lot of fun ideas that you might really like.
