I don't know what a lot of these gripes and things are talking about. I have had the UI glitch before in the HMD but you can save on the Desktop, which I did, then restart the OXR instance and it cleared up. That only happened once to me in Kodon but it isn't unique to this program, occasionally tracking gets borked. That's just where we're at with VR right now. I use a Meta Quest 3 and an Index and they both launch kodon just fine, never had an issue with the launch one time. I haven't used this program excessively but I have used it enough that I can vouch for the stability (5.3 hours is inaccurate - not sure why but that is literally a fraction of the actual time. Also not sure why someone said no trigger pressure in the program? I am pretty sure there is.. I'm going to have to open it and check; either way, trigger pressure is a sketchy function to use imo, even if you have a very steady trigger finger. I greatly prefer to find a happy mid-level Strength setting and set it to either movement or frequency, Much easier to control imo but to each their own. One thing I LOVE about Kodon is the import / export versatility. It isn't some master skeleton key or anything but I can use it as an intermediary between DAZ, Substance, Blender, Hexagon, Modo, Zbrush, Houdini and VUE: USD, OBJ and FBX compatible. I like Kodon. The price is very reasonable compared to other 3d modeling and sculpting options. Yes blender is free, but you can't sculpt in VR, you can only scale primitives and walk around a scene. Most competitive products are in the 200-500$ range AND require a subscription. This is one and done. It is not a perfect platform but I find it useful and I think, for the price especially, it is a great tool for anyone to add to their suite. ESPECIALLY considering that there is no subscription. Everything is moving to subscription models anymore, which particularly sucks when there is still a large upfront purchase price, in addition. I.E. 500$ purchase and 300$ annual if you pay one off or 50$ a month (Adobe for instance), Don't forget there is a swath of tools on the desktop viewport that are inaccessible through the HMD and some things are still just easier to manipulate with a mouse and keyboard. TLDR; I like it. I recommend it to anyone, but i suppose particularly for someone starting out in 3d sculpting/modeling: low cost, once, upfront. The price of a AAA game, once, for life. Wide compatibility with other common programs. The program has never not worked for me: on Index or via Steam Link on a MetaQuest 3 by both AirLink and by Cable

For those on the fence... I really just want to distill this as clearly as I can for the people who are feeling indecisive. Buy Kodon... if you have the money to spare... I'll start out with the bad and work my way into the good. Kodon is unfinished-- unfinished and uncertain on it's future. The devs have been radio silent for 8 months. Not even so much as an announcement in their discord telling us what's going on. Kodon also has glaring save/export issues that keep it from truly fitting into place as a professionals tool of choice. BUT, that being said, it's by far the easiest, most intuitive and creatively freeing VR sculpting software I've used. It might not have every bell and whistle that ShapeLab or Adobe Substance Md has (I've tried both), but in my opinion that's what makes it great. It has just enough to be an incredibly powerful sculpting tool but not so much that it overwhelms you and freezes your creative process because you're stuck moving sliders around in a menu. Where Kodon really shines is being a creative outlet, ShapeLab and Substance Md feel like spending an hour setting up an art table, with all your different pencils, paints, pastels, papers, and pens. Where as Kodon is your sketchbook and that really nice pen set you just bought. Sometimes, you just want to doodle and sketch and not be burdened by the complexity of the medium. Kodon can doodle you into creative flow. So to sum things up; Kodon may be limited by it's quirks, but is a fun and intuitive piece of software to use, I can highly recommend you pick it up if you are just looking for an outlet to your creativity. However if you're a professional looking for VR sculpting software that you will rely on every single day for work, maybe start with ShapeLab and pick up Kodon as an accessory later. Not every artist needs a full art table, but every artist should own a sketchbook kind of deal... just- maybe you wanna wait until this sketchbook stops occasionally losing pages...

The concept and the mechanics are great, however objects created in Kodon VR can not be loaded if you want to continue work on it, as it loads an empty scene. Update: There's a workaround of starting the project on desktop and saving it then opening it in VR to continue

Seems like pretty much exactly what I was looking for after not being able to use Medium anymore. I wanted a steam based VR sculpting app that had similar features to those and this seems to be in a decent state. The main downsides I have been having so far are: 1) the layer system seems really unintuitive, and sometimes adding new objects will glitch/lag out the program while in VR? 2) I also see a lot more features, especially for materials etc when I look at my desktop view compared to my VR view, so I'm not sure what is going on there either. 3) saving files seems a little all over the place. I can't seem to change the name of my files, only on exported objects, and I can't find the saved file either if it does actually save...and yes I am running as admin on a super fast SSD. 4) reference images are supposedly in the app, but figuring out how to get them in has been quite a headache compared to pretty much every other program I have used 5) Performance seems good, but then it will suddenly stop closing my menu windows and I have to restart the program to get it usable again. Hopefully it is mostly UI / UX issues and partly user error, and not a borked program because I really, really want to like and recommend this software to other 3D artists. I'll check out the discord too and maybe there are some workarounds or something.

When I first bought Kodon it was in the earlier days of VR. Glad to see a tremendous improvement since then! Works great as a fast and intuitive prototyping tool. Love the radial array tool. That's a pretty unique tool for sculpting. I was aware of the save issue so I did a "save as" .fbx file and had zero problems. Imported the fbx into Blender. No issues there either. The results after just a few hours are encouraging. Will continue to work with it
