KNIGHTS and MERCHANTS recreates the era of the Middle Ages. Apart from the purely fictitious geography of our world, all game elements and scenes are based on the Anglo-Saxon period, 1200 A.D. And we haven't used imaginary elements like fabled creatures, either. The player takes on the role of an ordinary captain in the Palace Guard.

Knights and Merchants is a strategy, colony sim and medieval game developed by and published by TopWare Interactive.

I have a lot of nostalgia for this game. Love it! So simple and fun. I did run into issues of it glitching out and freezing my system. Make sure you save your game a lot to avoid losing progress.

This was pre-internet game. It was too hard for me when I was so young so I couldn't finish it before. Now I discovered this again, so I nailed it. Very good strategy game.

The first citybuilder/RTS I ever played with a beautiful art style. Similarly to StarCraft 1, much of the fun is derived from finding ways to exploit AI to your advantage both in combat and in supply chain management. The HD version has everything unlocked, so for the traditional experience (and extra challenge) you should try the non-HD version. It limits what you can build and adds some more variety to the missions.

This is a really fun recourse management game that I have been playing since I was in elementary school. When this game came out on a floppy disc was about the same time I got my very first personal computer. There were 4 computers in our house at the time. Moms laptop which weighed about 2 lbs, grandmas laptop which weighed about the same, the family computer, and finally my own computer! The sounds of this game take me back to a time that I still had a father. Psychologically I think I'm required to like it whether or not I actually do. But here I sit, 27 years old and still I have not beat it and there is still more for me to discover. <3
