Never has a series of scrimblo bimblo mascot platformers hit me with such emotional gut punches through unexpectedly amazing stories while still retaining simple yet extremely tight gameplay. You are doing yourself a disservice by not playing this. WAHOO/10.

Klonoa 2 is my favorite game of all time. It was massively influential on me as a child in ways I did not even fully comprehend until years of introspection as an adult. The music, the art style, everything in this game has shaped in some form or another my sensibilities on the things I enjoy. The story carries themes of handling emotions negative and positive in a way that not many stories do and honestly probably helped a lot in my emotional maturity and development. Klonoa 1 handles grief and loss in a way that makes many cry and I am so glad to have seen these games be brought to an accessible form after nearly multiple decades being dormant.

How could I didn't know about this game? Klonoa is probably one of the best Bandai Namco original games out there. It's a shame that it was overshadowed by other popular Bandai Namco titles. Klonoa is an action platformer following our main character Klonoa on his journey to solve the problems of dream worlds. The main mechanic that revolves around this game is taking an enemy and throw it. It might sounds simple but it can also be use for double jumps, fly and much more depending on the enemy types. Klonoa 2 is a huge improvement on the first one. It adds lots of mechanic, fancier graphic and better story and much more. Still, note that I'd recommend playing the first one first so at least you can see the development changes of the game moreover the lore and story. The game itself is not really easy if you start on normal which is the way the game intended to be. For example, the mirror fairy that doubles the crystal amounts have a really tight time that a single wrong move in milliseconds can mess up the whole crystal you would gather. Also, the second game is a lot harder than the first one which is another reason I recommend to play first one first so at least you can get the hang of the controls. The side levels is also harsh and took me 30 minutes to conquer it 100%. Even though it's not aspainful as doing path of pain in Hollow Knight or getting true ending in Cave Story, it still gives the same amount of pain but a lot easier and faster to figure out. In the end, you should buy Klonoa NOW. I was shocked to know this was made in ps1 era. It really shows how Bandai Namco have changed over the years moreover with recent titles that doesn't feel like the way Bandai Namco used to be. For example, their newer Tales title doesn't feel like a Tales game anymore if you're an original fan who play many old Tales game from beginning like me. I hope they make more originals or cartoony like this again and please at least port old games back. I really want to know old and good Bandai Namco titles

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series Delightful remake of the first two Klonoa games, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile (from the PlayStation 1 era) and its sequel Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil - which is still one of the PlayStation 2's most highly rated games with a Metacritic score of 94 at launch. I fondly remember playing both at the time so I was delighted that Namco's furry mascot was getting a new lease on life on all modern platforms for his 25th anniversary. What surprised me the most about both games was how well they both hold up considering they came out between 1997 and 2001. Platformers have seen a creative renaissance over the intervening years thanks to the budding indie scene, so it was surprising to see both hold up so well against the more modern games in the genre. To say both games in the collection have aged beautifully is an understatement and this is only amplified by the loving restoration done by Monkeycraft on these lost platforming relics so that hopefully an entire new generation can discover them. If sales are buoyant enough, hopefully then there is the possibility we see a third mainline entry into the series. Simple yet delightful to play, Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is gorgeous visually, oozes charm, has clever level design that often allows the player to approach it from various angles, and is a winner for fans of the genre. Recommended. One word or phrase to sum up the experience Delightfully quirky platformer Performance/Bug related incidents None experienced during my playthrough Similar to games Crash Bandicoot , Spyro the Dragon , Sonic the Hedgehog Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=869453510

Hello friends, Today i will review the game Klonoz Phantasy Reverie Series. This includes 2 games in this game series. The first one is called Klonoa: Door to Phantomile. This is done in the style of PS1 era graphical looking game. The second game in the series is called Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil. This game looks more like a PS2 era graphical game. Both games are included in this game series and include some new bells and whistles, including some bonus levels, more levels of difficulty to customize your game, and costumes that klonoa can dress in the games. There is also a dlc set that adds more costumes, but costs the same amount of a game for 20 US dollars. If you want the DLC, i suggest buying it on a sale, and even if the game is costly, also buy on a sale. It goes on sale quite often. PROS: - Two old platformer games in one bundle. - PS1 era and PS2 era graphical games for a sense of nostalgia. - Various types of levels including platform jumping, and also riding things in both games. - There are collectibles in each game to get. - Support 2nd player. This is similiar to the mario games on switch that include a second character as a helper character. Made for couch CO-OP. - Works with controllers. I am using a ZEN black switch controller. - It works on windows 11 OS. CONS: - For the price, the game is somewhat high priced. Wait for a sale. - DLC only adds costumes and it not really needed to play main game. It also includes the soundtrack to the games and a art book. - The graphic style might not be liked by everyone and may even looked "outdated". If you do not mind retro graphic styles from ps1 and ps2, these games will be fine for you to play. - The classic run to beat a level shtick. These levels i find dificult as you have to make it to a certain point to save. Also, there is timers on certain levels that also add difficulty to the game. Some new players may find these difficult. Recommended game. The game is definetly a solid platformer on steam. Although the settings are different in both games, they both have that feel that is similiar in each game which feels like it connects them together. Although this game needs another installment to feel like it is more complete, it only has 2 games. If this price point is too high, wait for a sale. I got it on sale for 10.00 US dollars during the xmas sale.
