I've never played the original Klonoa but this is a solid remaster and I enjoyed both games a lot. It's not a perfect remaster, some parts can be a bit rough, you can't skip dialogue without speeding it by 5x, and I'm pretty sure they just ripped the audio straight from the ps1/ps2 version since it's got a bit of crunch to it. But all that aside, both games are fun and wonderfully charming adventures that I'd recommend to people who are looking to pick this up. As someone who is new to the series, I wish they included the WonderSwan/GBA games in the package. Nevertheless, I can only hope they decide to remaster those games in the future, or perhaps a Klonoa 3. Best time is to get it on sale, don't let the silly cabbit be forgotten. This has been a certified Wahoo! moment

This is a tough one for me. I'm recommending this solely for lunatea's veil. The remaster looks and plays fantastically and to me is easily the definitive version of the game. I cannot, however, be as kind to door to phantomile. The wii remake was bad 16 years ago and it still is very much bad today, and no fresh coat of paint's changing that. Overall the entire game just feels 'cheaper'. It plays terribly, the physics feel off, jumps that were easy in the original are now a nightmare. It feels very slippery too. Which is a shame because the original is one of the tightest plataformers I've ever played, and this just butchers it completely. I also have a lot of complains with the art direction, which admittedly are a lot more subjective. The ui and menus look terrible, like seriously bad. They probably had an intern make them. The entire game lacks polish but it's particularly outrageous here. The remake doesn't respect the original artstyle at all. Almost every vision lacks the atmosphere it once had. The 3d look could work but it didn't, it doesn't have any of the charm from the original. If you're getting this to play the first one, honestly you would be better off downloading duckstation and just emulating the ps1 version.

Never has a series of scrimblo bimblo mascot platformers hit me with such emotional gut punches through unexpectedly amazing stories while still retaining simple yet extremely tight gameplay. You are doing yourself a disservice by not playing this. WAHOO/10.

Klonoa 2 is my favorite game of all time. It was massively influential on me as a child in ways I did not even fully comprehend until years of introspection as an adult. The music, the art style, everything in this game has shaped in some form or another my sensibilities on the things I enjoy. The story carries themes of handling emotions negative and positive in a way that not many stories do and honestly probably helped a lot in my emotional maturity and development. Klonoa 1 handles grief and loss in a way that makes many cry and I am so glad to have seen these games be brought to an accessible form after nearly multiple decades being dormant.

How could I didn't know about this game? Klonoa is probably one of the best Bandai Namco original games out there. It's a shame that it was overshadowed by other popular Bandai Namco titles. Klonoa is an action platformer following our main character Klonoa on his journey to solve the problems of dream worlds. The main mechanic that revolves around this game is taking an enemy and throw it. It might sounds simple but it can also be use for double jumps, fly and much more depending on the enemy types. Klonoa 2 is a huge improvement on the first one. It adds lots of mechanic, fancier graphic and better story and much more. Still, note that I'd recommend playing the first one first so at least you can see the development changes of the game moreover the lore and story. The game itself is not really easy if you start on normal which is the way the game intended to be. For example, the mirror fairy that doubles the crystal amounts have a really tight time that a single wrong move in milliseconds can mess up the whole crystal you would gather. Also, the second game is a lot harder than the first one which is another reason I recommend to play first one first so at least you can get the hang of the controls. The side levels is also harsh and took me 30 minutes to conquer it 100%. Even though it's not aspainful as doing path of pain in Hollow Knight or getting true ending in Cave Story, it still gives the same amount of pain but a lot easier and faster to figure out. In the end, you should buy Klonoa NOW. I was shocked to know this was made in ps1 era. It really shows how Bandai Namco have changed over the years moreover with recent titles that doesn't feel like the way Bandai Namco used to be. For example, their newer Tales title doesn't feel like a Tales game anymore if you're an original fan who play many old Tales game from beginning like me. I hope they make more originals or cartoony like this again and please at least port old games back. I really want to know old and good Bandai Namco titles
