The aesthetic and nods to From Soft games are nice touches. Having a handful of starting characters without having to grind to unlock them is nice, and makes tinkering around in the early game a little more interesting. And the permanent upgrade system is initially rewarding to start filling out as you keep finishing runs. But with all that, I still don't see myself putting too much more time into it after about 6 hours. Each character class has its own unique skills to pick from during a run as you level up, and while there are a decent number to pick from it's very clear after a few runs which ones are actually viable for the more difficult stage setups. This ends up making each run too samey and ultimately boring. You can force yourself to run some odd-ball builds for variety, but I just found the gap between a sub-optimal and optimal build too disparate in terms of being able to actually clear the harder content. It's one thing for sub-optimal to be challenging, but it's another to know you have no chance of finishing a run. The repetitive runs coupled with the fact that I just didn't find the Necromancer, Archer, and Knight classes enjoyable to play resulted in me losing interest a lot sooner than I would have expected. The core of the game (tight controls, nice spritework, idea of unique classes, etc.) is a thumbs up, but the way the skills and builds work just didn't do it for me. Having the ability to sprinkle in other class skills along with some synergy (e.g. fire damage increases on enemies with bleed) would give the game some longer legs. If the skill system was ever reworked, or there was some balancing done to make some of the classes more viable and allow for some more build variety run to run, I'd give it another go. This is one of the games where I wish Steam had a more granular rating system. It's right at that 5-6/10 "I recommend it, but..." spot. it's definitely enjoyable to play for a while, art is nice, and the controls are there... it's just missing something from making it an emphatic recommendation. I still recommend trying it out even with all the issues I had with it since the price is in line with what I got out of it. PS: All my playtime was on Steam Deck and everything was all good. Even the text and HUD were legible, and not a bunch of microfonts like some games have tended to be on the Steam Deck.

Keeper's Toll doesn't stand out for any particular reason besides the Dark Souls/Elden Ring aesthetics, but it's decent and cheap. If there's anything particularly worth complaining about, it's probably how few sprites and animations there are. Some enemies and attacks (player and enemy) are limited to left and right, and I'm guessing that's been done to save time on making art assets. Some animations look pretty choppy compared to others, and certain sound effects (mainly the Blood Maiden's flies buzzing, for me) get annoying when you hear them constantly. Some player classes definitely feel better than others (particularly during the final bossfight, which doesn't spawn any regular mooks that are necessary for certain abilities to have much impact), but it's a PvE game. It might feel less repetitive if levels didn't have events spawning at the exact same times and in the same order, plus more maps would be nice, but it's $7 and an alright game, overall.

Fun little Bullet Hell/Vampire Survivors style game, with a nice art design to it and some fun gameplay. What can I say, I have become a huge fan of these quick to play Bullet Hell games, especially for shorter play sessions on my Steam Deck. The soundtrack is also good to and the controls are well done and fit a controller and The Steam Deck perfectly. If you are looking for another Vampire Survivors or Halls Of Torment style game, give this one a try! I know it says I only have 30 minutes played on this, but its been longer, as I was playing offline away from the internet today so my time played should be more around 2.5 hours.

I want to preface this by saying I like this game. Its good. if you enjoy Dark Souls ascetic and Vampire Survivors game play this game is near perfect. Each class is very unique and focuses on different styles, and different looks. The initial variety is there. But, this game is also very easy. if you've beaten a run in vampire survivors or even Hades then this game will be a cake walk. Every class is capable of beating a run immediately no outside run buffs needed. I lost my first run around the 10 minute mark and that's the only time I've lost, ignoring the post run curses after the 20 minute mark. This game also lacks weapon evolution similar to Vampire Survivors which I think would be a great addition. If you get a weapon at minute 1 you can't expect much more form it at minute 20, visually speaking. Most of the upgrades/buffs, both class and weapon specific, are all passive and don't make a visual impact which is a big let down when replaying a run for the umpteenth time. TLDR: On a first play through with each class the game is super fun, but the lack of weapon evolution, visual changes, and difficulty makes repeat runs far more repetitive compared to similar games such at Vampire Survivors or Death Must Die. But the addition of a follow able in game quest is a HUGE plus and makes the first play through amazing, much better then similar games far more lose quests.

Very fun survivors-like game, each class fees very different, only problem I have is that with each class limited to their own abilities (by not having supporting items or spells, etc) you tend to have the same build over and over for each run depending on what works for you. Not that it's a bad thing cause it still takes some skill to get through the entire run, but it would be nice to have some variance and chaos so you don't get to build the same build each time. Overall I definitely recommend.
