A ton of retro fun! Very bare bones, but that's part of the challenge. Well worth the $.

I like to believe I played a handful of Metroidvania games, those with certainly more complex mechanics, and deeper content, and some that are debatably more artsy. Saying this, it is always nice to go back to the basics and play some of the simpler ones, much like I did with Kalinur. Playing through it helped me recap the fundamentals of what makes good Metroidvania games, such as: [*] Enemies with readable attack patterns [*] Platforming challenges to overcome [*] Useful abilities (even if the abilities you earn in this game, like double jump or being able to dash while midair may not seem any special, it is still impactful for how they made the gameplay easier and useful to access places you couldn't otherwise get to) [*] Good progression [*] Maps with easy navigation [*] Rewards for taking optional paths If you're new to Metroidvania games, Kalinur is a solid entry into the genre. P.S. If you have any other ideas of what makes a game a Metroidvania one that I may have missed mentioning, feel free to comment about it.

A simple metroidvania/platformer game but represent what the genre all about. I got the game on sale about 50-60 cents USD. it is worthed.

This game is hilariously simple, but it's also kind of fun. Sorta. I mean you only get one attack (with one upgrade hidden on the map) and you collect coins to upgrade your health and attack. Since the game is already easy once you spend five minutes farming coins you can obliterate almost everything. Still, for a metroidvania made by one guy you still have your necessary upgrades, there's a decent amount of exploration (Like switch pressing) and several boss fights (Though they require little effort.) The final boss should be awesome but if you have upgraded things he will go down in less than a minute. It's totally forgettable but the presentation isn't bad. It's worth a try.

if you like a challenge buy this game. if you get past the first level youve done well. to boost your health or weapon it costs 200 in game coins which you collect from killing the enemies. save loads as you progress as it saves your coins. there is only one save point on the level, plus a i think a key needs to be found to progress maybe to the boss ? it will test your might haha.
