JUNKPUNK is a factory management, base building, exploration game where a New World Robotics ship has crash landed. You and any survivors must restore this ruined planet and prepare it for habitable life. Craft, build, explore, discover, and grow to terraform the planet.

I'm hoping this game hasn't been abandoned because it is pretty good for EA. Some things need to be reworked but...EA....

Tough to beat for the price ($15.99 USD as of this writing). It's grindy even by the standards of the genre, but the resource-gathering mechanics (zap resource piles with a laser until they explode) carry that same oddly satisfying feeling of popping all the bubbles on a sheet of bubble wrap. Tech tree progression feels like actual progress instead of "does the thing 5% better than the last tier" - moving from tier 1 to tier 2 cuts out entire processes and intermediate resources and gets straight to the good stuff slightly faster and slightly cheaper so you can really get stuck in on making the next tier's backbone materials. Upgrades to your Legally Distinct From WALL-E character actually FEEL like upgrades. You move and harvest significantly faster, carry more, and fly. No matter how much you automate, a fully-upgraded character is still your most effective asset. You're the star of the show, and investing in your character is worthwhile. Too many base-building games get that wrong. Resources don't feel all that balanced, and there's not a whole lot outside the main quest, but those are things the devs are in the process of addressing in a forthcoming major update. Recommend buying now if you're enthusiastic about supporting EA development as early as possible, otherwise keep an eye on it and wait for that major update.

I swear, the amount of games I play, and have played, where I build things whilst cleaning up the world in said game is almost insane... almost. This game is exactly what it looks like, as it wears its core gameplay loop on its cuffs. If I were to say how I feel about this game, I'd mention what I did one another game which was the first of many such games where I clean stuff up: This game reminds me of Danny DeVito's famous quote: 'I'm the trashman!' only you play as a robot... it's very fun! :D
