Paid £7 for this amazing game, as a rimworld player this is a perfect alternative. Going to be sinking alot more hours into this!!! 100% value for money even at full price

The base idea of this game is rather simple, but it is crafted in a way that makes it challenging, very enjoyable and fairly addictive. The building part feels simple in a fresh, entertaining way and combat, again, is nothing too complicated at first, but has various quirks to it while still feeling captivating. Some mechanics, like permanent damage, are quite interesting and make the game more thrilling. Various customizable settings allow for decent replayability, especially difficulty-wise. The one thing I would change was research speed/progress speed, which felt too slow, though that might be something customizable too, I don't remember right now To sum it up: this game showcases how simple (but not dumb) basics can combine into something challenging but enjoyable.

So, it's fun... but also very weirdly unbalanced, and gets repetitive particularly when the progression is so slow. The difficulty goes from being super chill one minute and then suddenly everyone is dead the next. The trader is a joke, at least early on, as they are selling items for thousands of dollars while I only have a few bucks, and all my stuff sells for $1 or $2 for some reason. Feels like with some rebalancing and scaling this would be a great game.

This game isn't easy, but after the last update, it's fair and you can power through without save scumming. Reading the change log, it used to be basically hardcore and very frustrating. So, if you haven't yet given it a play like I were a while back, give it a try now. It's basic, but pretty fun and the music is great. The key thing is you still need a bit of nerves to overcome a few difficulty spikes here and there, just take it slow. My 7hs is for the first chapter and a half only.

It's a super good game, you can play through it multiple times, and there's even a sandbox mode. It's my favorite colony management game.
