NOTE BEFORE PURCHASE: This game is abandoned and has an absurd amount of bugs. The game has a great vibe to it, and great attention to detail. Each country you pass through has its own brand of each good. The car feels fun to maintain and upgrade. I just wish the radio had more variation, really. The biggest problem is the copious amount of bugs. I write this review as I'm forced to stop leaving Hungary due to the world no longer generating and leaving a sheer edge that drops you into the void (Notably, I've previously managed to get through this section). Mirrors are buggy as they show terrain unload around you. The game is unpolished, but the gameplay alone I can recommend.

This game may be buggy, unfinished, and at times frustrating to deal with, but it has potential. It has a certain charm to it to convince you that you should keep playing and reach Turkey. While visually unimpressive, the atmosphere is still amazing and the setting is unique. You travel along a 1991 former USSR, in a time of turmoil and confusion where the breakup's consequences are just starting to show their effects, and the game does a great job of making an interesting trip out of it. Uncle Lutfi (should you choose to take him) is there to give you conversations and trivia along the way as well. As for the story of the game, it's a secondary feature and takes a backseat to the historical focus of the game's plot. But that doesn't mean there's no value to it. It's an amazing story with an ending that will leave you tearing up. Obviously, I won't spoil it for you, but it's definitely worth checking out each one of Uncle's letters. Now it's time to discuss the gameplay. There's just something so charming about having to take this little shitbox with you across several countries, constantly repairing it and using it to transport goods. The game's primary story doesn't last long enough to make anything feel repetitive, and just keeping the car running outside of getting upgrades is a fun and interesting challenge to undertake. It can get frustrating at times, and the game has some actually pretty nuanced and complex mechanics that take some time to fully master, but it's an interesting experience to see how far you can take your little Laika, which will begin to feel like a friend to you, and perhaps an enemy. Overall, the game may be considered unfinished and lacking polish, but the potential is there. And unlike most other abandonware on Steam, this game is still fun despite all of its flaws. Even after dusting it off and downloading it from my "Hidden" library after several years, it still charmed the pants off of me. I only wish this game could've lived up to its full potential. But just like the Laika, it's still fun to use despite all of the janky, broken, and missing parts. This game truly is a Jalopy.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to drive through germany in a terrific soviet vehicle that breaks frequently and is very slow? Me neither, but Jalopy allows you to have what I would consider the best travelling game experience you will ever have. (excusing some occasional bugs)

I know that publisher took away the game from devs and killed it , but I still want to leave a review, because devs did a great job. It's unfortunate it's not finished, but it's still playable and addictive.
