Good RTS with a solid campaign This RTS is much slower-paced than the Command and Conquer series. Emphasis is on holding strategic points while conserving units. One cool feature is that every unit has a dedicated "Retreat" hotkey that makes them hightail it back to the nearest resupply point for healing. I really liked the campaign for this game. The cinematics were pretty good and made me feel invested in the story. Unfortunately, multiplayer is kind of dead but the AI is pretty fun to play against in Skirmish mode.

This tactical RTS is slept on. an underdog in the strategy genre. i expected this game to be more main stream to be honest. you get the point. whatever steam says, i have twice as many hours on xbox. i'm an rts lifer, been playing RTS/city builders since Red alert and ANNO 1602 (i was more in to 1503 and then heavy on 1701 even though gameplay changed). Iron Harvest makes you value your troops on the field more than those games because its very expensive to replace troops. having medics and especially front line engineers in this game is so fun especially since the infantry of almost any variety can switch between weapons simply by taking their fallen enemies' weapons. so engineers can become infantry if they find rifles, and cannon groups can become medics if they find medkits. Not only that, finding resources in this game takes time. You're already moving infantry and mechs in and out of the frontline to your support line and back, constantly due to the chaos of war. On top of that you're defending multiple control points (AI attacks 2 on Easy, unsure about hardest, im stuck on normal) while constantly trying to find weak spots to push. I need to stress this part. THIS RTS IS VERY ENGAGING. Even on the easiest diff you'll find yourself busy, nearly unable to take a breath. The name of the game is Blitz, always, but every unit is balanced to the point they can stun or do damage to anything at random. AIM FOR THE BACKS OF MECHS. this game is ALL about flanking mechs where you can, and disabling infantry from using weapons, either by rag doll, high burst dps, or by using other infantry to attack enemy infantry in melee combat i.e. using grunt riflemen to melee attack anti-mech troops to keep them from turning your mechs into scrap metal (and they will, quickly, even on easy diff). The game is incredibly intense and engaging for an Rts, if youre caught slacking in this game it will punish you for every mistake. I often think this may be the closest thing to a "dark souls" level of punishment in an RTS. but the more i play the more i can find my way through these missions. I cant stop for months. I take breaks for months but i always come back to this one. I bought a PC a few months ago, bought this on steam just because its better on PC. ( Big W for me)

Super cool setting and enjoy gameplay and actually has a good story with interesting ideas. Seen alot of people complaining about the 1st mission it takes like 10mins to finish and its a tutorial mission it really isnt that bad. If you dont even finish the first mission and slap a negative review on the game, you're just being a whiny child. the game has 3 campaigns (without dlc) all of them have highs and lows.

Jumped into the game and immediately got into the action through the conquest game mode. This is essentially a Company of Hero's clone with a 1920's aesthetic and steampunk mechs. What more could you ask for? The negative reviews seem to revolve around how the game being poorly balanced and "abandoned." What I can see is it has a straightforward rock paper scissors game play, including 3 distinct modes that can be played solo including: campaign, skirmish and a very simple Total War style battle map with select missions attached to each territory. This is a solid game as is especially when on sale for $7 for everything. It may not be Starcraft 2 or CoH 2 and it may be very straightforward but it does not need to be complex and, most importantly, it is fun.

I played this after the DoW4 announcement. Wanted to check what it's about and maybe set my expectations for DoW4. Overall the DNA of Company of Heroes and Dawn of War is very apparent here, the team is obviously full of fans, the dedication and attention to detail is great. I love the attention to the campaign overall, it's well written and progresses very well. This is obviously a product of passion. The game is not perfect, could be overwhelming early on, some pathing issues where squads split, maybe some mechs are too clunky.. but overall none of this takes away from the experience. Very good game, and sets my expectations very highly for DoW4.
