This is an excellent deckbuilder roguelike. The gameplay is engaging, and the challenge feels appropriate. Moreover, its style draws on The Binding of Isaac, where the gameplay is posed as a metaphor for emotional struggle. That is really effective here -- perhaps even moreso than in Isaac. I believe I got it on sale, but I would say that the $17.99 price tag is fair for what you'll get. My hours are inaccurate because my internet has been sketchy; I've played at least 20 hours. It is highly replayable.

The minimal aesthetic sets this apart from other games in a strangely atmospheric way, especially with how stripped down the music is. The gameplay has a great level of challenge that doesn't overwhelm the player. And while constantly dying and going back to square one may sound annoying to some, with the achievements and collecting involved, it makes the experience pretty satisfying. As the story goes, I like the way the cutscenes are handled, short and sweet. But this trend of "mental health metaphors" is pretty stale and largely Lefty, juvenile, and cringe. One dialog example in this is "not saying anything can be really violent". Ugh. The writers don't even know the proper definitions of words. Still a good game, though.

A deceptively engaging deck-building puzzle game is hiding behind the lack of text and simplistic art style. The game doesn't hold your hand, letting you work card mechanics out on your own, though does provide puzzle levels that will teach you important tactics. The story is likewise simple but with a nice underlying message that hits all the right notes, and 'beating' the final boss is pretty heart warming. Being short enough to complete in one sitting, the game doesn't overstay it's welcome - whilst the unlockable challenges and nightmare mode alongside alternate paths and hidden routes present decent replayability. Bug wise, the game soft-locked twice in the couple of attempts to get my first clear, necessitating restarts. I'd still recommend it, especially on sale.

Picked this game up via a random 66% steam discount voucher, wouldn't have known about it otherwise, great thought out game with a rather short story but lots of achievements to aim for making this very replayable.

Great little (and time-consuming) game. Not without problems, though: â—˜ Linux version should've gotten the update Win version has, probably was just an oversight, â—˜ Few upgrades seem to not be working in some situations, but it's easily avoidable, â—˜ DON'T EVER USE petrification on the Ferryman (unless you want to waste some time, and current game). Worth buying, especially if you'd be able to get ya' hands on the discount - it's a *steal*.
