great tactical game. besides having to level up with various research, which i feel tha AI player has the fullest advantage on medium, you also have to consider orbital dynamics for ballistic weapons. my 2nd match was 6 hours long, so once you start, be ready to be there a while.

Interplanetary is a turn based... aim game? Remember those old browser games where you'd have an arrow and you'd try to hit the enemy? You'd shoot your arrow, see where it went and on the next turn you'd give more or less power, you'd aim higher or lower. Its that type of game. It starts pretty slow with everyone trying to build their own planets, gather resources, protect their cities and sooner or later people start building guns and they start shelling other, distant planets hoping that the random huge shell they've hurled towards the sky finds its target and lands right on top of an enemy city. As people try to hit each other with the shells flying all over the place thanks to the suns and the planets gravities pulling the shells, changing their course all of a sudden someone fires a fucking missile that can lock onto your planet and strike a specific place within your planet. If they have intel buildings in their own planet they'll even be able to see where your cities, your resource buildings and your own guns are at and strike at them with their lock on missiles. Before you know it people are throwing lock on nukes and entire asteroids at each other. Do your best to protect your cities and the people living within them! +The game looks wonderful. +The research tab is very easy to use. Everything you can research is already listed for you, a lil bit of experience and some reading is all you need to figure out what does what. If a certain research unlocks a new building it'll have a special icon so you'll know. If its unlocking upgrades for your cities or unlocking an upgrade for a specific building type you'll still know by the icons. You can make a queue too so you never have to look at the research menu for too long. +Tons of different buildings to build, tons of different upgrades for each building, so many cool weapons to use. +Keep track of 2 resources. Material that you dig up from the ground and power that you create by either building solar panels and using the sun itself or with nuclear reactors. Each building has one or more connections. For example a nuclear power plant can connect up to like 4 things meaning it can power 4 buildings at once. Lets say that you built a nuclear power reactor and you have 4 cannons all connected to it. All of them are usable as long as the cannons don't get destroyed or the nuclear power plant doesn't get destroyed. If the power plant is gone all the cannons will be down. The cannons themselves have 1 connection point meaning while the power reactor is connected to the cannon the cannon can be connected to something else like a defense platform that can shoot down incoming projectiles. Before you know it your entire planet will be covered in mines and power plants with lines connecting every building to either some other building or directly to a power plant. If you build this connection badly a well placed strike can just knock out a shit ton of buildings. Going back to the materials you dig up from the ground they, along with power, are used to upgrade stuff, repair stuff and build new stuff. Unlike the buildings that generate power until the end of the game or until they're destroyed mines and similar buildings only generate material as long as your planet has a material reserve remaining on it. If there's no material left for the mines to dig out then you're left with whatever you have. It turns the game into an arms race. Dig up all the material quickly, build everything you could ever need and then focus on shooting. If your planets mines dry up then good luck with building new stuff, upgrading your stuff or even repairing your stuff. You can sell the old things you don't need on your planet anymore and replace them but you'll definitely wish you still had mines digging up that sweet material. If you wanna dig everything as soon as possible you definitely can with more mines and upgrades that make your mines dig faster. If you wanna take it slow, still have a supply of material coming in when everyone else is out then you can try to make them last as long as possible there's upgrades for that too. +You can play with like if I remember properly 6-8 players. You can do a 1v1 if you want against the AI or another player but those are not very fun. The chaos you get in a populated lobby is very very fun. Again if I remember properly there's like 6-8 slots and they can be filled by AI, players or a mix of both if you don't have enough players to fill a lobby. The AI is fun to fight against they don't just focus on you they fight each other just as much which is wonderful to see. They do have some incredible aim though even on Easy. Like they'll shoot you across the solar system, their cannon shell will loop around the sun twice and still land right on your face. +/- Matches can last a few hours. You decide if thats a good thing or not. Its a pretty fun game! I got it in a discount and I'm pretty happy with it. The building, the arms race, getting to nuke others, trying to swing your missile around the sun to hit someone... Its fun.

I love this game, I played >50hrs in the non-enhanced version and this one is even better. However unfortunately its one of the most unapproachable things because of the Technology system which is just "Analysis Paralysis - The game" The Planetary management is amazing, the art is simple and concise. shooting projectiles into space tracking the enemy orbit is as satisfying as it gets. This feels like a genre defining game that only just fell short of realizing its potential due to some questionable design choices. 2 aspects the game severely lacks that if they could improve it would elevate it from "good" to "exceptional" * technology system. Very basic and unimaginative. I pick exactly the same technologies every time because I know that it works, feels very solved before you even interact with it. "reacting to my enemy" with technologies is not viable as its not realistic to change path mid-game. Just learn 1 good path and stick to it, which is very strict and is a shame. The technologies are also very messy in their design and overwhelm the player, there is too much things to consider and you either get into analysis paralysis or follow a path blindly. I wish Technologies were more concise and less overwhelming. * No replayability or personlity: The game unfortunately has no real personality, your planet is just a planet and you essentially play the same game every time. You can do things different but it does not feel like a new experience. Even adding a type of government that would give you different unique starting bonuses would go a long way to make the player feel they are in a "new game". Even some random events, or have different techs available each time, would go a LONG way in making me interested in playing it more. There are other minor things, the intel mechanism feels very tacked on and bland. You either max it and go precision or you don't and go ballistic, no inbetween is viable. Many mechanics could lean on each other in a more elegant way to create a better experience in this game generally. Overall the game is great, im just frustrated about these pain points because I truly love the art, concept, and feel of it. Cheers devs, great work overall
