This game is a real treasure. A huge amount of content awaits you in a really big open world, which you can freely explore. The story is set in Greek mythology and right at the beginning I have to say that as an classical archaeologist I was very pleasantly surprised by the accuracy, details and references that the game offers. The whole thing has a more light-hearted tone and lots of humor, which is really perfect. Especially the chemistry between Zeus and Prometheus is very good. A huge advantage for me is that the game doesn't seem repetitive to me at all. Puzzles, vaults and also enemies are original and except for a few basic units, they are not repeated at all. The combat system is enjoyable, the game offers multiple fighting styles that you can use at the same time. Quick short sword, a long heavy axe or a long distance bow. A stealth option is also present and the whole thing is further enriched by a large number of special attacks. Finally, I would like to mention flying, which is really amazing. Yes, the ubisoft launcher isn't perfect, it would be great to have achievements on steam and there is also an in-game store with microtransactions, but I personally didn't notice it at all while playing. Definitely give this game a try, itÂŽs worth it.

Cool AAA open-world game with lots of flaws and no Steam integration. - No Steam achievements. - DLC are standalone games: you are either playing good open-world base game or either of 3 DLCs. - No end-game and rudimentary new game+ with 0 fun. - Balance issues: game is super easy even on Nightmare difficulty, but then vault with lasers or timers and you MUST reduce difficulty temporarily. - Annoying "checking for additional content" message every time you go into main menu, takes 1+ minute EACH time game is started. - Poor controls which often do not work, hard coded keys which makes certain popular keybindings (ESDF) dysfunctional. - Annoying repeatable animations: almost every action you do, opening chest, upgrading, crafting, picking up will be followed by useless animation, each of which you will see 100+ times if you made to the end. - Unexplored things are added to a map with poorly implemented exploration mini-game, where you need to spam one key, while trying to find something unexplored by looking at every shiny thing in the distance. + Big world to explore, 5 biomes, diferent enemies, lots of hidden treasures, various puzzles. + Nice story, good cut-scenes with remarkable main characters. + Music, sounds, effects, surroundings, art-style of a solid AAA game. + Enjoyable combat. + Gliding (who do not like to fly?) I bought this game with 90% discount, which is well worth the time it takes to complete base game. Some fraction of this time was spoiled by poorly designed puzzles, not working controls, bugs with physics or targeting issues. But otherwise it's a solid game. I wish there were no DLCs, but more base game content, more weapons/armors, various enemies and some sort of end-game. I wish there were Steam achievements so I'd spend some extra time trying to complete them.

I never fully embraced Ubisoft’s open world games until I played Immortals: Fenyx Rising. Don’t sleep on this game! It’s different, and in a good way. Immortals: Fenyx Rising has a similar look to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but the colors in Immortals: Fenyx Rising are more vibrant; and the textures are more consistent. Zelda: Breath of the Wild includes some more realistic textures along with its cartoony look; Immortals: Fenyx Rising does not. A word about the comparison with Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I never understood why gaming journalists criticized the similarities. Obviously Immortals: Fenyx Rising was inspired by Zelda, but why should this be a bad thing? Nobody would say that a Souls-like game is “too similar” to Dark Souls either. The gameplay in Immortals: Fenyx Rising encompasses three major areas: exploring, puzzle solving, and combat. Minor gameplay features include role-playing mechanics, i.e. leveling up, gathering materials, and crafting potions. Exploration is fun, as the open world is reasonably sized and offers an unusual but welcome amount of verticality. Fenyx, our protagonist, is equipped with the wings of Daidalos – and gliding through the air is just so much fun in this game. Solving puzzles may sound boring at first; aren’t minigames and puzzles in most games? Yes, I think so, but Immortals: Fenyx Rising is different because the puzzles never exhaust you. While playing through the game, I never once felt the need to look up any solutions online. Even after more than 40 hours into the game, the puzzles will still introduce new mechanics. Don’t expect Portal or The Talos Principle, but I’m sure that some of the puzzles in Immortals: Fenyx Rising will surprise you. In short, the puzzles will demand your wits, but they will rarely, if ever, frustrate you. The combat is pleasantly over the top as your abilities are more than just human. You have superhuman abilities, such as Hephastios’ hammer, my favorite: a giant hammer appears in your hand and you simply smash your foes. It never gets boring. The only bad thing I can say about combat in Immortals: Fenyx Rising is the lack of variety in your enemies. Then again, you spend more time exploring and solving puzzles anyway; so every fight feels like a welcome change of pace. Also, dodging or blocking enemy attacks is an effective and fun way to make sure you get the upper hand in every fight. The soundtrack is another big plus. Previous works by Gareth Coker, who composed the soundtrack for Immortals: Fenyx Rising, include the soundtracks of Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps. If you want to get an idea of how well done the soundtrack is, just listen to the main track “Heart of the Hero”. Fenyx’ story is told by two narrators: the always smug, boastful Zeus and the more thoughtful, idealistic Prometheus. They comment on many of the events in the background and I personally find their dialog hilarious. You will understand many of the jokes and even more if you are somewhat familiar with Ancient Greek mythology. For example, at one point Zeus comments: “The sincerest form of flattery is kidnapping someone so you can get some alone time, just ask Ganymede.” I laughed my head off. The other gods are fun, too. Ares, for example, [minor spoiler:] got transformed into a rooster and you have to help him. He is helplessly in love with Aphrodite, but doubts his chances: “Oh, so a gorgeous goddess in love with a chicken ? I’m sure that’s illegal.” Zeus only comments in the background: “Definitely not illegal!” There are also wholesome moments, like Prometheus saying: “Fenyx couldn’t help but reflect on what the god of war had taught her. That true courage isn’t the absence of despair. But triumph over it.” So, yeah, I enjoyed the dialogue quite a bit in this game. You won’t pass a test on Ancient Greek mythology by playing Immortals: Fenyx Rising, but Ubisoft QuĂ©bec has done a really good job integrating Ancient Greek mythology into their game. If you’re unfamiliar with it, you will learn many stories on your adventure; and if you already know them, your knowledge will be refreshed and you’ll understand the insiders. You can grab the Gold Edition of Immortals: Fenyx Rising for like $15 during a big sale and it’s definitely worth it. Another reviewer here called this game “criminally underrated”; I agree.

Never played BOTW so I can't compare it. The music is FANTASTIC. Same guy who did the Ori games. If you're going to play this game, don't do side quests first. Follow the main story for a bit, get your wings, the ability where you do spears upward (also handy for a triple jump), upgrade your stamina and health and go from there. Yes, the game is puzzle heavy, but you can actually adjust them to make it easier by some toggles in the options as well as switching the difficulty down to easy or story if you wish. I started on normal, but after a few hours it felt kinda difficult so i switched to easy for the rest of the game with all puzzle assistants on. Yes, there are some puzzles that are really dumb and/or annoying. But there's also a lot I liked too. Story was good, some funny humor here and there. I'd love to see some sequels but do it like Prince of Persia Warrior Within and make it more angry, add some blood and gore, etc. However that's one bad thing about the game- the puzzles and combat are tied to the same adjustment. You cant make the puzzles easy and the combat difficult for example. I did all the main quests, side quests and about 23 vaults. I also upgraded my character to about 80-85% abilities. There's also new game plus. You can switch difficulty at any time. Got about 35 hours total. I just played the base game, no dlc.

Good Ubisoft finish-the-map game. Fun to wander around killing monsters and doing little challenges to get better stuff so you can kill more monsters and do more challenges. Graphics are nice, I like the design of the characters and environments, everything's very colourful and chunky, and some of the jokes actually land! Zelda comparisons come from the fact that it's an open world game in which you can climb and glide and have a stamina meter, and there's a bunch of little mini-dungeons, but in terms of gameplay it's quite different, and in fairness Ubi had the formula first. Got it on sale for €15 with all the DLC, and consider that a very good deal.
