June 2024

This game is good for what it is, but it's pretty short and easy. This is a Doom 2 mod where you go through a variety of levels themed off the Scarlet Devil Mansion and blast the hell out of everything in sight with a variety of different weapons. Because it takes place in the mansion, a lot of the levels are very heavy on hallways and most levels look very similar visual wise. Level design isn't super great because most levels involve you killing enemies, finding a key to open a door that leads to another key, and then using that key to get to the end of the level. Considering how fast paced the game is, I wasn't bothered by it that much, but they definitely could use more variety. They also tend to spam lots of enemies at you since you can kill stuff so quickly in this game even with the starting pistol. This game has an unlockable hard and lunatic difficulty that you can play, but I actually found these to be easier than the normal difficulty since despite the changes to enemies to try to make them more difficult, they also give you more powerful weapons than on the normal difficulty that just absolutely melt through all the enemies. Boss battles are a thing too in this game, but they are a complete joke once you figure out their simple patterns. Some of them I was able to defeat in under 20 seconds just by spamming my most powerful weapons and abusing the stopwatch that allows you to stop time for a couple seconds. Despite all that, I had some nice, mindless fun with the game. I enjoyed being able to see how fast I could get through each of the levels and the art for the weapons and characters were really appealing to look at during my time playing. It's far from the best fps out there, but if you're a fan of the Touhou series, I'd say it's worth trying out during a sale if you're interested.

For thoose who are unaware, this is an DooM 2 mod (IWAD File). Its in my opinion probably the best DooM 2 mod out there. If you like both Touhou and the Original Doom, play this asap.

🕔 A worthy combination of classic 2hu and FPS gameplay. It's a “shoot first, watch & check then” game. Short, but driving, fun and honest hardcore. Three hits equals death, but no one takes away the quick save button and bullet hell is quite casual. Pistols, your best friend shotgun, time stop and throwing knives. A mini-story about how Sakuya became a maid in the Scarlet Devil Mansion. The individual music and design variety of the early locations could be better, but they're nowhere near lackluster or bad. With the Reimu DLC, this is a great game for a couple of evenings. Even ran through difficult modes, because unlike the psychological violence against players on all kinds of Hard / Lunatic in other games, here the MC herself becomes stronger.
