A fun co-op horde shooter. It does have PvP modes, but my friends and I have yet to play those. All of my experience is either single-player or co-op. It's got a good campaign with varied level/enemy design. The core loop is you and three buddies hold off waves of enemy toys advancing to destroy your little battery-powered brains in jars around the map, while trying to find cash and loot along the way. Typically you have 3 OBJs you have to defend and a sizable map with plenty of secrets to help you stand up to the tyrannical toys attacking you. Guns include things like lasers, miniguns, shotguns, grenade launchers, and probably more I don't remember. You can also buy attachments during the level to upgrade stats on your guns. Levels include things like bedrooms, bathrooms, backyards, kitchens, etc. and it makes for a good variety of different environments to fight in with notably more verticality than I expected when going in. All of your progress contributes to your customization options for your character. Maybe my favorite part of the game is to engage with is making my little action figure and assembling an absurd name from unlocked keywords. My friends and I have tons of fun making silly characters between levels, diving in to unlock more options, and doing it all over again. It gives me a feeling of nostalgia similar to walking down the toy isle as a kid and looking at all the various things on the wall my parents would never get me. Action figures were always pretty cheap though, so I got to take one home with me now and again. For 25$ I think you could do a lot worse. If you lack friends to play it with it might be worth considering a sale first. I think the game has a nice and friendly community though it is small. LFG will probably get you better results than matchmaking, but it requires actually interacting with people you don't know. Scary right? Anyways, good game. I do give it the Steam thumbs up.

its a horde shooter where you play as a tiny soldier around the house. Yea, its pretty great (and made by a small team that deserves support). Constant free updates since its release which is something you don't always see. Its greatly appreciated and just makes the overall package even better.

If, when you were young, you played with toy soldiers, fighting battles... whether you played alone, or with friends... this game is for you. The fact that six indy devs made a fantastically fun and enjoyable game shows once again that you DON'T need AAA game studios (where politics, tone-deafness, middle-management, in-fighting, politics, and toxic cultures abide) to make a big impact--especially a big niche impact. I cannot think of another (great) game out that that has this type of toy action figure nostalgia. Well done, you.

This one feels like a hidden gem on Steam. Fun cooperative (or competitive) game based around the realm of toys. Even as an adult this is one fun game, and add the fact its local split screen simply adds the cherry on top. In short, would recommend a purchase on sale (and especially if friends are picking up a copy). HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed (HU)'s gameplay is straight forward and simple. The game allows the player to switch between first person and third person, with a double jump and ledge climbing ability that is integral to the game's mechanics. The movement is smooth and doesn't feel janky. In the defence type game mode player's are challenged to collect a variation of secrets (from gap jumps, finding collectables, and tagging) in addition to collecting coins. As the player collects coins they are allowed to build a preset defence around coloured "towers". Around the map the player can purchase or find weapon upgrades. Two weapons are allowed to be equipped at once (such as shotgun and rifle), but bigger weapons such as a rocket launcher or mini-gun take up both slots. Eliminating enemies also gives the player credit to use towards defence. The enemies themselves are varied, fun, and challenging. From BeyBlades, to toy robots, to drones, to toy planes and jets, to tanks, to jeeps, etc... Each enemy adds a new challenge, and the game throws mini-bosses and large bosses the player's way. The better the player performs in levels means more game unlocks. This is an underrated feature in games as most games require some sort of pay to play. It is rewarding to play and be able to unlock levels, skins, or characters. The visuals and graphics are spot on and absolutely immerse the player into the environment. Being a tiny toy in a giant room and navigating obstacles that a every day room would pose to such a small character is a fun universe to play in. The game does a good job notifying players of possible jumps, and the more familiar a player feels with the level - the more fun it is to jump from location to location. Animations are well done, especially when BeyBlades explode and when the toy robots get punched by the player causing a 360 spin. I also think majority of the level designs were extremely well done. The sounds and music are also suitable to the game's environment. Every little sound (from building to moving about the map) is included, and the music switches between some fun themes. Overall, would highly recommend a purchase on sale (and especially with friends). It's a fun simple game I feel anyone can get into - and even appropriate enough if you're playing with kids. One major down side to the game is the inability to throw grenades. Beyond that - well done Devs. RATING : 8.0/10 Gameplay B Story / Campaign B Visuals / User Interface B Sounds / Music B- Replay-ability B- Overall B-
