I cannot recommend this game enough. Had a hard day? House Flipper 2. Want to have something to do while listening to an audio book? House Flipper 2. Depressed about how you're a millennial that won't be able to own a house in their lifetime because we're in the end stages of capitalism and can't even afford groceries or basic necessities, much less a HOUSE payment? House Flipper 2. It's my favorite game and I could not be more serious. Endless jobs and houses with the community made content too. Please for the love of god play this game.

I have played 530 hours in HF1 and more than twice that in HF2 despite it having fewer furniture items, jobs, properties or Steam workshop mods (which it won't be getting due to cross platform limitations) So why have I spent so many more hours playing a game with apparently fewer features than its predecessor? 1. Item customisation - being able to change the texture, pattern and colour of almost every item of furniture and then simply copy and paste that custom finish to other items of a similar type makes the currently limited choices seem vastly bigger. 2. Wall/floor finishes - select paint, wood, tile, fabric, wallpaper or metal, change the the pattern, colour or even texture of your finish then put it on the wall or floor any way you want, no need to find the perfect tile trim for your kitchen in the workshop, just make your own. 3. Jobs/properties (story mode) - a limited number of them atm but more being added in free updates, jobs are fun to do with their own little stories (also they are repeatable) after which you can purchase most of them as a property to flip as many times as you like, no buyer feedback as yet but it is coming soon. 4. Jobs/properties (sandbox mode) - I think this is where the game shines and why I have played for so many hours. While jobs and properties are limited in story mode there are THOUSANDS of player creations to download from within the game or directly from the mod.io site, or, even more fun, create your own jobs/properties for others to enjoy. It takes a while to master the art of making your own content but is well worth the effort. Finally the DEVS are listening to player requests via their feedback website on canny.io, post your request for the improvements you'd like to see in the game or up-vote other player's ideas if you agree with them, a lot of player suggestions have already been incorporated with more in the pipeline. To really get the most from this game a little imagination and effort is needed from the player but if you do you won't regret it!

Great game. However, every time I play it I can't help but wonder why I'm doing virtual chores on a video game instead of just cleaning my own house, so I typically promptly pause it and go do dishes or something.

It's complicated, but it's mostly about content. That's what most of the complaints seem to be about, so let's look at that. First of all, there are probably 3 main types of House Flipper players. Type 1 is mostly interested in the handyman jobs. Type 2 likes flipping houses. Type 3 likes both. Personally, I'm a Type 3. I've only flipped about 6 houses so far, but I've completed the jobs, and I even messed around in the creative mode for a few hours. As of now, I have 52.7 hours in the game, and I have a ton of houses left to flip and theoretically endless amounts of time in the creative building/decorating mode, so I don't really think an overall lack of content is a real thing. If you are super fast and do only the jobs, you might be a little disappointed, but that's not really the developer's fault, as there is a lot more to the campaign than just those jobs. Another type of content people complain about is the lack of items for decorating as compared to the first game. This is kind of true, but not nearly to the extent that people claim. Here's an example of why. I don't know how many sofas are in the first game, but let's say there are 100 different sofas. Now let's guess that there are only 20 different sofas in the second game. What gives? Well, there are actually two things at play here. Number one is that a lot of those sofas from the first game were added with later DLC, and this game hasn't had any DLC yet. But more than that, there are a whole lot more sofas in this game than first meets the eye due to the high level of customization. I really should have counted all this stuff before writing this review, but with each sofa, you can choose what type of fabric it has and what the patterns are on the fabric. You can then choose what colors the patterns are. You can also choose what the wood portions of the sofas are (as you could in the old game, as well). But the fabric and colors are brand new to this game, and being able to control those makes any one couch have hundreds if not thousands of possibilities when you include the patterns and the colors. This also holds true for other things like beds and chairs. You can get everything exactly how you want it. Moving on from the amount of content (I always want more, but think it's fine as is), there are just a ton of quality of life features that I can no longer imagine not having, like copying and pasting styles, duplicating items, etc. The ability to fine tune wood panels is also something that makes decorating a pleasure. I don't know. Like everyone else, I wish we had a lot more content, some DLC stuff, etc. But I've really just enjoyed the game as is, so for me, I recommend it.
