Indie JRPG meets Mount and Blade with turned based combat and an emphasis on exploration. What is there to not like? + Very rich gameplay. This game has so many different mechanics, its actually insane its made by a small team. You have turned based combat, a classic RPG system with tons of classes, naval combat, trading simulator, massive world to explore, resource management, home base bulding, reputations to manage, crew to command and many many more. + Music is excellent. Truly has many memorable songs and the variety is very high. I'll be listening to some of them even after i beat the game. + Attention to detail and various gameplay elements are great. You can use ropes to climb down ravines, use explosives to make entrances, repair rope bridges, cut trees using an axe or cut through vegetation using swords, set fire to things, fill bottles with various liquids, push people off the railings to kill them or push them into thorns, make an enemy wet and then use lightning to deal extra damage, use a teleport spell to access places you otherwise couldnt, break enemy weapons and armours to make them weak, set them on fire with a lantern, set up traps and chokepoints. The variety this game has is amazing and one of the best features. If you think you can do something, you probably can in this game. This is a huge plus in my opinion and a breath of fresh air. + This game offers a huge sandbox where you can join factions with different perks and ships, fight, trade, explore, do it all. Once you are bored with it just go end the game, you can beat it and if you still want to continue, you can. A great mix between a story and sandbox gameplay. + Different build variety is huge because there are so many classes that you can combine to make something cool and interesting. One of my characters used flails and krakenslayer magic to wet enemies first and then hit them with lightning. Other was a spell casting crossbow/pistol hybrid, my main was a warpblade with teleportation magic and dual wielding. + Weapon and spell variety is great. You have swords, daggers, maces, axes, flails, pistols, crossbows, bows, shields and spears. Spells have a lot of categories including various elements, ruin magic, teleportation magic, healing magic, protective magic and others. + One of the biggest pluses is that the progression in this game feels natural. You have a quest log but usually everything progresses naturally. Dont know what to do? Ask your friend Reeve, she'll point you in a direction. This game has a diary system where you can write down important things like different vendor locations, dojo, arena and trainer locations and requirements, good trade deals etc. This is one of the few games where i actually used this feature. Please for the love of god, dont go to the wiki aftter you start, you'll ruin the game for yourself. + Exploration feels great. Sometimes you'll find interesting locations with cool backgrounds and nice stories. Some even felt pretty creepy. Enemy variety is pretty great, you wont be fighting the same thing over and over again. You actually get paid to explore and map out the world, find out about various items and locations. Its great that you are given an incentive to do something. The map exploration also has a surprising depth in forcing you to manage your resources. You can also experience diffent winds that will either help you or hinder you, there are thunderstorms, icebergs and organic enemies to watch out for. + Game runs very well on everything. Pricing is very fair for what it offers. I bought it with a 50 % discount which is a great value. +- Story is interesting but it isnt nothing to write home about. There are only about 4 missions total. This isnt anything like your typical JRPG with long and branching plot lines and characters. +- There are basically two characters you'll be interacting in the game - Reeve and Haggart. Reeve especially is pretty fleshed out. Other characters are not very interesting or have any depth to them. +- While there are many varied dungeons to explore, they are usually very short, only consisting of two or three screens total. There are some exceptions to this. - There is some jank to the game. For example you have a quest log and then if you press ESC you can see a different quest there. Why are there two quest logs? Various inventory screens and character sheets are functional but there are a lot of them. I wish i could filter through my inventory. Truly an excellent game. I am already hoping there will be a second one.
