This is an excellent and immersive train simulator that puts the player in the engineer's seat of a variety of Korean metro passenger locomotives. If you are interested in learning the Korean language then it also doubles as an excellent vehicle for developing listening skills and vocabulary as it relates to the world of passenger rail. This game is visually stunning. The developers have faithfully recreated the environment surround Seoul Metro Line 1. The detail in of the stations and the surrounding buildings is of very high quality for a train simulator. Weather and lighting effects help to create a consistently refreshing visual experience. The high degree of attention to detail and a high level of graphical quality. Each factor helps to build an immersive and visually engaging experience. A principle concern for early access players is the inconsistent presence of English translation. The developers have actively updated the English language translation so that the core experience is comfortable for non-Korean English speaking players. There is a brief English language instructional guide that covers the basic operation of the train and its safety features. One thing to note is that the automated safety warnings and announcements regarding train operation are not translated to English language. However, if you understand the safety features of the train, you will be much better equipped to understanding the purpose of the announcements when you hear them. Once you have sharpened your skills this becomes a non-issue. A basic description of some announcements is also provided by the operator's informational display. Operating the train is simple and satisfying. This lends itself to making the experience of learning to control the train's inertia through careful management of braking power and speed both accessible and instantly rewarding. Owing to the presence of platform screen doors at all stations there is a narrow 0.8m window in which the train can be considered properly stopped at the stations. Mastering your approach at the various stations tests not only the player's skill but also their knowledge of each station's peculiarities. For example, underground stations are often situated on curved tracks which has the effect of obscuring or distorting visibility of the stopping point. Technical performance is good, but not great. A player may experience slowdowns in some of the more asset-heavy sections of the line. However, on the whole the game runs smoothly. One issue with the instructional manual is the absence of instructions adapted for the one handle variety of train. A simple modification to the manual would resolve this issue. I highly recommend this game to all rail sim fans, to all English speakers learning Korean, and to anyone who is interested in experiencing Seoul Metro and the surrounding cityscape.

My personal review on Hmmsim Metro: I have quite a bit of interest on subway simulator games, and the train simulator genre in general. I've played the original Hmmsim on mobile, and OpenBVE on PC. While scrolling on steam, This game caught my attention and obviously, I bought it. Price: At the time of this review, (April 10, 2026) the game costs $22.79 CAD. So far, according to SteamDB, this game has not gone under any sale since June 25th, 2021, the game's release date. Personally, I think the price is quite fair, considering the content and level of detail you get, which i'll get into below. UI: The game's user interface is quite simple and easy to navigate. Graphical, audio, and control settings will be easy to navigate and find, although lacking in some areas. I would have liked it if there was more controls over the graphics, including the option to bind more controls in the control area, but besides that, its okay for now, although basic. Routes: The game has lots of different routes, in all kinds of different times of day, different weather, and conditions to drive in. The game has 43KM of Seoul's Line 1, (But note the actual line is almost 220KM long!) and has different routes split into different sections, with the option to drive the entire ingame 43KM. Graphics: The game looks amazing, especially with ray tracing on. Of course it's quite taxing on your components, but if you have a strong build, and don't mind lower framerates, definitely keep it on. With ray tracing off, the game still looks great, and better than most train sims out there, rivaling stronger and more expensive options, like Train Sim and such. Detail: The game is extremely detailed, with high quality models and textures. The train cab is well done, with lots of realistic controls and different kinds of alarms and announcements you can hear throughout your drive. Atmosphere: The game feels great, with AI trains and passengers that interact with the train, by getting on and off, and walking around the platform. You can even see them approach the platform edge when your train pulls in, a detail many games don't do. While the train is in motion, the sense of speed is great, almost need for speed like. Physics: Physics feel greatly done, quite similarly to other train simulators. My biggest complaint however is the lack of simulation in suspension. I would like it if the developers would consider adding suspension simulation to have the train bob up and sway side to side, but besides that, they are good. Summary: Overall, I think the game is great in its current state. Obviously as an early access game, there is improvement to be made to the UI, train physics, and definitely, the tutorial. Me and many other players do find the tutorial quite lacking, and it only explains basic controls. In the near future, I would like it if the tutorial was expanded into a much more hands on "in person training" style tutorial. Another issue which is brought up by players, is the lack of proper translation. As of the time of this review, that has mostly been fixed, and from my playthrough, I found it easy to understand. (It took me about 10-20 minutes to get acquainted with the controls and to start driving) To summarize it up, the game is good, and I recommend other players purchase and support the developers for this great, yet underrated metro simulator game.

What a fabulous game built by 7 people. Be warned, this is a serious sim. DTG please look at what other companies are capable of producing. This accurately recreates the Seoul Metro lines. You will see other, distinctive Korean trains on your journeys. You will learn to master how to stop accurately! It will go wrong for you and you will hear every alarm. This is all part of the fun. They've even modelled overhead neutral sections and how to operate through these. I can remember when Hmmsim was a free mobile app, so the fact that this now exists in this form is nothing short of a miracle. Credit where credit is due to the team who have built this!

*2026 - February 2nd Edit* The new passenger update has set the bar for train simulators. Passengers stand, sit, and take up space in a train just like real life. A lot of games struggle simulating busy platforms, but I think this game takes the cake. The extra AI trains add so much life to this game. It is truly immersive. I'm really chuffed with this! Absolutely superb. Gorgeous graphics, physics, scenary, and a nice UI. It takes a minute to learn the basics, but I would argue it is inuitive. The developers are consistenly pushing updates based on audience feedback. The price is extremely fair too, in contrast to TSW. I highly reccomend!

Great simulator, however as someone who doesn't get to play often, I would prefer to have the compatibility with the logitech gamepad or more simplified controls with the keyboard, like an easier mode, as well as the portion of not having to worry about the DSD. I like the simulator, but I struggle a lot understanding it. In all the years I had the game I have been only able to complete one route. Now I accelerate and the train suddenly stops saying some sort of notice I don't understand. Adding subtitles would greatly help and having an active tutorial in learning how to drive every train.
