Her Story turned out to be an excellent game to play together with someone. Mechanically, the game gives you access to a series of interviews conducted with a suspect in a murder case. The catch is that the interviews are cut into roughly 10-second-long pieces, and you can’t access them directly. Instead, you must use text search to find all the pieces containing a given word or phrase in the subtitles. To add to the challenge, you can only see the first five videos returned, so searching for something like “the” won’t get you very far. You don’t have any specific goal in the game, but naturally, you want to watch all the pieces, reconstruct the interviews, and piece together what happened. We stuck to a simple yet effective flow: watch the found videos, jot down any words that catch our attention, search for those words, and repeat the process. As I said, the game is ideal to play together. For one, the videos are short and easy to digest, and since the game requires little direct interaction, both players get essentially the same experience. Moreover, you can divide the tasks—one person keeps track of the words to search, while the other operates the game. This way, both players stay engaged, making it a true team effort. Plot-wise, you won’t uncover a groundbreaking story, but it has its fair share of twists and turns. That said, the unique approach feels fresh and keeps you hooked until the very end.

This game is like a breath of fresh air in the FMVverse. Unlike many other games in this genre, here you don't choose from any options and decide how the story should progress, instead all you do is type keywords into a video database and watch clips. That's literally it, nothing else to it. Once you discover a certain percentage of the clips, the game ends. It's up to you if you want to find the rest of the clips - you'll be rewarded with an achievement at least. The game doesn't have a whole lot going for it, for less than a euro it's alright tho.

Her Story is a king of puzzle game where you have to explore database and visualise hundreds of videos to find who's the real killer. The story and the gameplay is really original and the graphics are cool, like if you're working on an old computer. It worth it and I recommend it. 💗

This indie game is the best FMV out there that offers a unique investigative experience like no other! Her Story is an intriguing mystery that you piece together like a puzzle. The freedom of investigation is something I haven't experienced in any other detective game. I could have just watched the clips and make some footnotes, but I wanted to make the experience more realistic, tedious and harder for myself. I started meticulously writing down every bit of information while pain-painstakingly sorting each clip by correct day and time. As someone who has worked with statistics, data analysis and B2C/B2B investigations in a corporate, I knew how to emulate the police investigation setting. Yes, I made my playthrough longer and boring, but that was the whole point. What a delectable emulation~ The story itself is well written and the acting is great, special mention to the conveyed body language. We only see her responses and everything said by the police (us) is not included, thus we must make do with what we got and figure the whole thing by listening instead of asking. (Way better investigation game than L.A. Noire) Very innovative game and experience.

I last played this a very long time ago, but I still remember how good it is. Now that time has passed its incredibly good value for money.
