It really isn't combat focused - the fights are awesome though. The puzzles were a bit tedious at times. The psychosis aspect was wild and i truly feel for those that suffer from it in real life, that must be very difficult. Great game overall. Okay, so this is a game helps to understand how it feels like when suffering from a mental illness. The constant whispering and illusions are definitely damaging the sanity. The lacking of clues on sealed doors, unexplained portals and broken paths are not helping either. Maybe there are clues in the whispers, but I’ll rather keep them muted. In the end, I have to play a few adult games to lift my spirits before coming back to finish the game. Achievements are not missable except for the Nordic mythology collections. You can select chapter to complete them so no worry. The whole game is less than 10 hours in terms of contents. While the game can run smoothly on steam deck in default setting, the battery drain is significant and the deck can become very hot. It’s better to limit the deck to 30 fps for better overall performance.

So on of the first things you'll see when starting the game is a disclaimer about how they worked with psychologist to create a realistic depiction of psychosis and that people who suffer from psychosis may find it disturbing. Don't assume that's just a "We hope nobody is offended" type of statement, like I did. I have psychosis, and just the opening scene, the voices in her head (especially since I had surround sound headphones on) triggered my own psychosis. I had to take a break about 1-2 minutes in, but decided that I was so impressed with the depiction of it that I would calm myself down and keep playing. Her hallucinations are done so well, the live action rotoscoped people she hallucinates are so uncanny and uncomfortable (My own hallucinations don't look anything like that so I can't say how accurate that part is). Now typing it out it sounds like a very backhanded compliment, but I actually really appreciate how much effort was put into depicting her psychosis in a way that was so real to me that it instantly triggered my own. It's not often that we get good/"accurate" (it's different for everyone, so nothing is gonna be accurate to everyone) depictions of something like that and it deserves a lot of praise just for that aspect alone.

Such a beautiful, unique concept of a game that playing it has never given me so much anguish and frustration. In terms of artistic vision, the game is great in its depiction of psychosis, really immerses you into the perspective of a character with schizophrenia. The audio, the music, the atmosphere and visuals are well crafted. The story is incredibly messy and confusing but I think it perfectly reflects the mental illness throughout Senua's journey. The gameplay is utterly miserable to play through. Senua's inner voices are also used to provide tips and aid the player in combat in substitute for the lack of HUB and UIs. It's quite clever approach for immersion purposes, made me enjoy the combat a lot; Simple, yet satisfying. Unfortunately, the mechanic has not been utilized enough outside of combat and there's just not enough information to guide the player, for which majority of my playtime was trying to figure out where am I supposed to go - "Am I going the wrong way?", "Is this thing interactable?", "What now?". Some puzzles and level design were absolutely obnoxious and rage inducing to go through due to the lack of visual feedback for what has changed in the environment and clunky world interactions. Maybe I'm just impatient and cranky but the exploration and puzzles are just not for me. Though the game will be on sale for $3 and the length is only under 10 hours. If you can tolerate the flaws in gameplay it has, I would say it's definitely worth it for the experience and storytelling. You absolutely need a headphone to get the most out of this game.

The story tells about... ...the Pictish warrior Senua, who suffers from severe psychosis. She embarks on a journey into the depths of Helheim to save the soul of her beloved Dillion. The plot of the game is tied to Senua's disease much deeper than it might seem at the beginning. The game also tells a lot of Scandinavian legends (people who played God of War 4 will notice the similarities). The game itself is small. There are no side quests, and the main plot takes place in an average of 8 hours. There are a total of 14 achievements in the game, 13 of which are story-driven. Gameplay The main part of the gameplay consists of battles and solving puzzles. There are about four types of puzzles that can get boring in the middle of the game (this is what many consider to be a boring part of the gameplay and quit the game because of this). The game has a good combat system. Senua fights with a sword, and can also focus (enemies become more vulnerable, slow). The enemies are presented in the form of about five types of monsters and three bosses. All this is more than enough to ensure that the action game does not get bored during the entire passage. Environment and design The game was created on the UE4 engine — the graphics are pleasant, but the optimization is average (friezes were often observed). Although there is no open world in the game (it is not needed here), all locations are diverse and well-designed. Total This video game is interesting because the developers were able to show a wide audience the state of psychosis. It has a good plot and action, good graphics and musical accompaniment. However, some people may get bored with the gameplay with its abundance of monotonous puzzles. It is important to note that throughout the passage you will be whispered by the inner voices of Senua (they, by the way, will help you during the fight). This is important to consider, as it may annoy some players. I recommend purchasing the game at a 90% discount (especially now, before the release of the second part), and before buying, take into account the nuances that I described above. ------------------------------------------------ Сюжет игры История рассказывает про пиктскую воительницу Сенуа, страдающую тяжелым психозом. Она отправляется в путешествие в глубины Хельхейма, чтобы спасти душу своего возлюбленного Диллиона. Сюжет игры завязан на болезни Сенуа намного глубже, чем может показаться в начале. В игре также рассказывается много скандинавских легенд (люди, игравшие в God of War 4, заметят схожести). Игра сама по себе небольшая. В ней нет дополнительных квестов, а основной сюжет проходится в среднем за 8 часов. Всего в игре 14 достижений, 13 из которых — сюжетные. Геймплей Основная часть геймплея состоит из сражений и разгадывания головоломок. Так называемых головоломок присутствует примерно четыре типа, которые могут надоесть уже в середине игры (именно это многие считают скучной частью геймплея и бросают из-за этого игру). В игре неплохая боевая система. Сенуа сражается мечом, а также может сосредотачиваться (враги становятся более уязвимыми, медлительными). Враги представлены в виде примерно пяти типов монстров и трех боссов. Всего этого более чем достаточно для того, чтобы боёвка не надоела за всё время прохождения. Окружение и дизайн Игра создана на движке UE4 — графика приятная, но оптимизация средняя (часто наблюдались фризы). Хотя в игре нет открытого мира (он тут и не нужен), все локации разнообразны и хорошо проработаны. Итог Эта видеоигра интересна тем, что разработчики смогли показать широкой аудитории состояние психоза. В ней неплохой сюжет и боёвка, хорошая графика и музыкальное сопровождение. Правда, некоторым геймплей может надоесть своим обилием однообразных головоломок. Важно отметить, что на протяжении всего прохождения вам будут шептать внутренние голоса Сенуа (они, кстати, будут вам помогать во время драки). Это важно учитывать, так как некоторых игроков это может раздражать. Рекомендую приобретать игру по скидке 90% (особенно сейчас, перед выходом второй части), а перед покупкой учитывать нюансы, которые я описал выше. P. S.
