Game looks and plays great. I was worried about the responsiveness of the AI enemy, but once past the beach landings at Omaha the enemy does counterattack, flank etc. Great variety of units and vehicles, attractive interface. I've played four missions as US and UK and enjoying it a lot!
The WW2 game has increasingly become boring . However this one is pure FUN to play . I especially like the "line of sight" (if turned ON) . Even if you have less than fair understanding of WW2 games, it is very easy to play. I only wish they had added Numbering Units instead of looking all over the map (maybe I am missing it ?). I finished the British Campaign in two days , due to the ease of play, and am now looking forward to playing the rest of the campaigns (may even get the DLCs). The graphics is good and so is the between turn videos , which you can get rid of , by double clicking (you can double click even if you dont want to wait till your units reach the assigned location). Some negatives too - there should have been a night illumination rounds capability . Highly recommended for the casual enthusiast, the hardcore wargamer and everyone in between.
Another Slitherine Home Run! I've been playing an assortment of the modern WW2 games and i always have major gripes with them all, but this one has nailed it so well. Theres a superb mix of needing Tanks, infantry and Artillery. They all have an essential role to play. The in game battles, man alive, I couldnt ask for more! If I was to have a gripe at the game, it would be about the levelling up and between missions stuff. There isnt really an army building stage which feels like a missed opportunity. it suffers from me choosing different units too. I found that its a case of "I'll save up for the best tank/infantry/arty and use that. I know a lot of WW2 games suffer the same fate. It mainly stems from having a pool of guys and no way to increase it. Maybe it needs a different approach to level it out because I'm not sure who would ever take half the stuff. Also, its missing a clear iron man mode. That aside, its awesome. So glad i bought it!
