I'm mixed. I enjoyed playing single player career in the first 10 hours and managed to win the World Cup at Advanced level while still discovering how to play at my best. After the first enthusiasm I started to lose interest, to notice the defects. Even the multiplayer didn't change my mind and I'm not so interested to keep playing. It's not a matter of content. For sure a longer career would keep me more interested, but that's not the problem. I would keep playing the multiplayer or wait for updates if my interest were still high. The problem is the gameplay. They changed some rules. It's ok, I'm not purist. I can enjoy new rules if they give more fun, but that's not the case. In the old PS2 game Quidditch World Cup, catching the snitch ends the match and gives 150 points. But the snitch appears after long time from the beginning, and in the meanwhile it's easy to score hundreds points. So, when the snitch comes in and someone catches it, the result of the match depends not only on the 150 points but also on the points earned with the quaffle, precisely on the points difference between the teams. The snitch is the crucial event that ends the match and gives you more chance to win and it's exciting. However it's too easy to score goal with the quaffle, so you get tired soon. That's the defect of the old Quidditch game. What if on the contrary it were too hard to score goal? You would have less fun again, you would get frustrated. That's the defect of Quidditch Champions. Match is too short, it ends in 5 minutes, or ends when one of the teams gets 100 points. However you're lucky when your three chasers score 5 or 6 goals in the whole match, that makes around 50 or 60 points! It means that if you play as one of the chaser, don't expect to score more than one or two goals on the average! It's frustrating and boring! The snitch comes in two or three times and each time gives you 30 points when you catch it. Chasing snitch is as important as scoring the goals. Chasing snitch needs longer time, more than one minute for each chase and it's hard to catch it everytime. On average you take 60 points from the snitch while spending more than half match to chase it. You can see that developers gave the same importance to quaffle and snitch, in opposition to the original rules. Chasing the snitch keeps you engaged for almost the whole match, while in the books is a rare but crucial event. The lack of crucial event makes the game less catchy. While chasing the snitch for the whole match is boring on the long run. At the same time scoring very few goals in the whole match is frustrating. It's not the only problem. In QC there is quite no teamwork, no strategy. I was thinking it was a matter of low AI of your team mates. Not the case; even in multiplayer mode with human players it is the same. The very huge pitch is another problem, it's too dispersive. Broom's speed is too low in comparison to the huge pitch despite the upgrades. It's too hard to tackle the opponents in such huge pitch. Most of time you see your opponents or team mates as little dots on the far distance; sometimes you cannot understand what's happening and where the quaffle is. Sometimes you exchange the dot-like players with quaffle or bludgers; it's very confusing because of similar colors and too small icons. Very hard to pass the quaffle to your mates. As you see, more frustration. They put just one beater in the team; and one bludger for each team, red and blue. The beater can summon his own bludger and lock it onto his bat; that's weird. On such huge pitch wouldn't it be better to have two beaters for each team trying to intercept two free flying bludgers as in the original concept? I don't know, weird choice indeed. However the beater is the easiest role, less frustrating. You can play as the keeper but it's not so fun, just as in books, that's not a defect of the game, it's the same in real soccer. To make it more interesting, developers added a new feature: the keeper can summon magic rings along the pitch to give energy to his team mates. However it adds more confusion. To score many more goals before the crucial snitch appearance would be more fun and the golden snitch would put end to the match but would not always decide the final result. At most you would calibrate the game slightly decreasing the points. It would be great to add special moves with the broom or combos for different shots or combined strategy with your team mates. Shrinking the pitch or making the players biggerwould be a good idea I give thumb up because there are no microtransactions and had some fun at the beginning. Playing against the characters of the movies is very cool. But I think we could have a better Quidditch gameplay. Maybe there is room for a major update. EDIT: I noticed another problem: there are no penalties. Contacts between players are so rare because of huge pitch, so developers decided to not put penalties. There is no referee! Tbc, where is Madame Hootch? This detracts to fun. It would be better to have more contacts with opponents and have penalties, as in books. Again a problem of gameplay. Developers can do better.
