This is one of my favorite games. The feeling of smacking your enemies with a hammer and destroying them is just so satisfying.

The game is good and quite original, and I played it to my heart's content many years ago. I would gladly play it again if it worked properly on modern machines... It would be great to have a small remaster of the game, maybe with additional levels, and Steam achievements.

One of the worst best games I've played. Addicting and challenging core gameplay, but everything else sucks. If you can ignore the pain and keep on swinging, you'll have fun. Not sure if that's worth it for you, but I'm glad I've played it.

Hammerfight is one of my favourite underrated gems. First of all, it has one glaring problem that is easily fixed: The default mouse sensitivity is too low. Turn it all the way up to max before you start or the game won't make sense, and i think that bad experience turned off a few people That done, it is an amazingly brutal and cathartic game of melee combat with steampunk skyships made of metal and wood. The physics are punchy and fast, the environment and enemies shatter and crumble immersively, and there's a lot of skill in getting really good hits. My favourite is the curved chainblade, because not only do you hit things with it, but a careful swing can hook an enemy, allowing you to throw them around. your ship is quite customiseable with various armor layers and multiple weapons arrayed in a circle The main story is pretty good, if a little hard to follow, its set in a pseudo arabic world, and is translated from russian i think, so its a little incoherent, but it does take you through lots of fun challenges and set pieces, showing off the value of the combat system. Ive spent most of my playtime in the freeplay arena mode after winning though. Which is far more than the 9.6 hours here, as i played this game for hundreds of hours outside of steam The arena is great, i have fond memories of smashing ships into the bricks, it is glorious. Though there are a few problems, like the prevalence of dynamite spamming bombers that stunlock you. And as you gain ranks, the banner hanging from your ship keeps getting bigger until it's a serious impediment to seeing your environment and weapons I wish hammerfight got a sequel, it really needs a lot of polish to iron out the jank, and add more content. What's here is an amazing potential game that was never fully realised, but now that its free everyone should try it
