I'd give it neutral if I could. It's not a bad game, it's quite good in many regards. It just had a few annoying parts that soured me to it. Pros: - The movement and levels are enjoyable enough especially by mid game+. - Good graphically, the boss fights were all in all well done Cons: - Way, way too much dialogue and the storyline is mediocre at best. They mercifully let you skip the dialogue quickly, but the game flow is interrupted often. - It's one of those "oh you didn't magically know to make decision X early game which seemed inconsequential at the time? LOL, you get the terrible ending unless you replay the entire game" games. - The levels wanted you to re-comb through them *a lot*, even for a metroidvania. It was just too time consuming. - This one maze area in the game was super annoying So while the fundamental gameplay there is good, a lot of the specifics soured me to it and fell short. If the cons don't sound so bad to you, it's a good game, just not my cup of tea I guess.

Disclaimer: The game is around 25 hours long, a massive amount of time was spent AFK. The first good metroidvania I have played in months. Actually, this is more than good. Despite its rough edges and rough translation this is an astoundingly good metroidvania in regards to its metroidvania elements. The developers truly understand the genre and understand what made games like super metroid so enjoyable as it features many of the same things that made super metroid so good. Exploration is wonderful, performance is great, there are secrets everywhere, the map is non-linear and sequence breaking is possible is many places. I cannot recommend this enough for all fans of metroidvanias, but if you're not a metroidvania fan then this may not be for you due to the rough edges.

One of the better metroidvania games made. Combat is on the easier side and not the focus, and you can make it easier further if you want. Some bosses may prove a challenge if you do not seek out all the upgrades. It's more focused on exploration and hidden secret routes, small platforming challenges to unlock alternative quick routes The story is surprisingly decent as is the characters and setting Word of warning, if you do the black and white dlc ending, which is the complete ending, you cannot currently get the main game ending, but it's a short watch on YouTube

Honestly, what a game. Randomly stumbled upon it, I don't even remember where I saw it from. Tried the demo, seemed promising. Bought it a few days later and my god, what a game. What a game. What more can I say? Binged the hell out of it in like 3 or 4 days I think? Just keeps getting better the more and more you play. I asked myself a few times "Just how much better is this game gonna get?" You'd be surprised. The feeling of satisfaction and euphoria each time you get a major upgrade, when you see that black cube just floating in the air, you break it open and you're surprised with an ability you'd never even have imagined would be in the game... Of course the classics are here: dashing, stomping etc... But there is so much more. The movement in this game is just amazing when you get all the upgrades. Back-tracking wasn't a problem at all. I very much enjoyed returning to older areas with each new upgrade I got and trying to find out what new areas I could now access. The DLC was absolutely brilliant, the story had some nice themes and the characters portraits are very, very pretty. I'm impressed how much love and effort went into this game. Tutle, I personally thank you. This game is a hidden gem and an amazing one at that. As a huge Metroid and Hollow Knight fan, when I say that I get Metroid feelings from this game, that's the highest praise I can give it because now I'm just comparing you with Nintendo. Would've loved it if it were a tad longer. Even with the DLC, it left me wanting more... Yes, it's that much fun to play. I got it on sale but if I knew what I was going into, I would've gladly given it full price. Just, thank you. Very heartwarming but bittersweet secret ending as well. I can speak of nothing but praise for this game.
