BEFORE SAYING ANYTHING: the game is refresh-rate locked, if your screen is above 60hz you have to lock the game's frames to 60 through Rivatuner or Nvidia Control Panel, otherwise the game will be twice as fast if not more, it's not a real trouble to set up, but beware of this problem anyway. The beginning of an amazing Saga: This game is insanely wacky and unbalanced, but it has retained it's charm through the years; The Arcade mode is very fun, not great because of balance, but it remains a great experience if you wanna dive back into the past of Guilty Gear. The game is a complete coding mess, some moves don't connect properly, some bosses input-read you very hard, and it is overall very weird by a coding standpoint, that doesn't take away from the amazing music, story and designs though! i finished the game 100% and i would do it again if i had too GLHF to anyone which will pick up this game! For now, i'll go on to Guilty Gear X2 #Reload.

game is great, but CHANGE YOUR MONITOR REFRESH RATE TO 60. the game's pace is tied to framerate so on higher framerates it becomes unplayable. Change it to 60 in display settings -> advanced in windows and will solve the problem

Surprisingly quite good for its age. While lacking a lot of the quality of life found in modern games of the series the game it still controls fluidly, which is not what I expected from reading the reviews. As someone who has only really ever played fighting games with friends who are equally clueless when it comes to the more in depth mechanics. Guilty gear as a relatively simple game is a nice jumping of point when it comes to memorising the basics of fighting games systems. While the game is quite hard. (at least if you decide to play without continues like I have been doing) It still feels not exactly what i'd call fair, due to some cheese on the part of the AI. But the loses do help you learn where to improve and don't feel unbalanced since you get the same type of cheese. Sadly this game struggles with a problem lots of old games have, where the story and some game mechanics are only properly explained in the manual, which the digital port does not have( although user gageschleser uploaded a scan of it in the games guides). I would recommend this game to people who like and are reasonably familiar with the Guilty gear franchise, that either wish to see how the series got its footing or have a really strong desire to play the games in order.

Great port, runs perfectly on the Steam Deck. Pretty janky and busted compared to every other Guilty Gear, but definitely worth at least picking up on a sale and playing for a little bit if you're a fan of the series.
