GUARDS feels better as a friend party game full of strategy that quickly melts into instinctive chaos for one reason or another. Older versions of the game were rough in more ways than one, with originally having timers on all missions, no easy way to keep items, and reinforcements appearing after a mission ends, forcing players to run like a bat out of Hell to the starting point or risk losing at the tail end of the mission. The Friendly fire adds to the chaos (if enabled), making your teammates more of a threat than the actual perps. The games can end quickly in victory or defeat depending on what happens, like a bomb thrower behind a corner or two hammer wielders, or someone bringing a tripwire crossbow. At the end of the day, on the year anniversary of this game, having 100% the game at the time of writing this, I rate this game a 7/10: + Chaotic Fun + Beans + Nearly anything being a weapon + Unorthodox methods of winning fights + Okay Character Customization + Timers on most missions removed - Difficulty Spikes - Poor Default Lighting - Unfair enemies - Hostage Missions

An interesting game developed by a small team and the game play is fast, zaney and gets derpy chaotic from there I've played a decent a good chunk solo (you can tell it's meant for group play and it's cheap in price deff worth a gift to friends so you can play together) but when playing with friends it was great we'd end up sabotaging each other for laughs, great amount of customization to personalize your guard to fit your preferences. Haven't taken down a king pin yet because my group couldn't get passed some missions because we were enjoying messing around to much but when we played serious we arrested, cited, and "subdued" all of the criminals for the sake of JUSTICE!

Easily the best medieval law enforcement game I've ever played. Fun both solo or with a few friends. Can be quite challenging at times, but would definitely recommend.

STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM This is 100% Oblivion guard simulator, the game. It is honestly a great value for the full asking price of $15 USD, and I'm actually surprised this game isn't more popular given that. You have a great, physics based combat system that just bleeds slapstick comedy and tactical objectives/mechanics that are weirdly reminiscent of SWAT 4 (all hail the GOAT) or Ready or Not. Do you bring a sword to quickly cut through your foes? Or do you bring a nonlethal club that allows you to arrest people (and take their gold) but at greater personal risk? They each have their place depending on the mission and what your teammates are bringing. I do have my issues with it, of course. For one, I wouldn't play it singleplayer, but being a coop game I'm not sure this is a strike against it. I think some weapons like the frying pan are way too good (but this is also hilarious) and I feel the game would really benefit from having more open maps to allow players more freedom in how they tackle objectives, but these are relatively minor complaints. It's good, it's fun, and it's cheap. If you have any interest, I'd highly recommend giving it a go.

Wonderful game, enjoyable gameplay loop, endless amounts of laughs with friends. incredibly goofy when it wants to be, punishing if you dont respect it. 18 player lobby cap is excellent for when you have more than 3 friends who want to play at the same time. 10/10 would hit my boi's with a 2h hammer again
