I've really been enjoying this title. I wish that it had some quality of life improvements in the future, but honestly this was very reasonably priced and I've got my moneys worth and then plenty.

This game could be a masterpiece. I really enjoyed all the good things about this game. But the bad finally took over at the end. I would give it a 10/10 if it we not for the bugs. Not just small ones. I can start by stating the positives aspects of the game. First of all, this game has a lot of things I look for into a game, It is in the medieval/fantasy, which is my favourite type of world scenarios. I like creating, mining, exploring, managing, upgrading my people and farming. This game has all of it. It even got a great skills and researching system. The enemies are cool to go against and there is a good variety that you can go against. You can cheese them if you want to, but I like a more frontal approach. I played two games from which in the first one I have learn to go around small bugs that affects little of the gameplay. Then I restarted hoping that I learned enough to play a full game. I truly thought I did... Here comes the bads... THE BUGS!!!!, the only thing that this game has that I dislike is the BUGS, not the ant type. I had a medium amount of small bug during my playthrough. 1. Characters just unable to move(Reloading repairs it) 2. Storage capacity full but nothing is in it.(Reloading repairs it) 3. Task not getting done or character not able to complete it. (Cancelling task and redoing it repairs it) 4. Animal disappearing after taming(Might not be a bug, but it should have a event message saying it fled) 5. I was building a balcony and saw that I place the door in the wrong place, ended up removing the door while my dude was on the balcony. I made a new task to make a door but I could not force someone to make the door, I have tried multiple it was not a skill issue from my characters. But I ended up doing it after someone went there on its own. 6.Here is the game breaking one, I prepared myself for a big travel plan with like 5 cart, all my best dude and all my good animals. I was finally ready to go. I start the travel. Then I do my things for a while then I see a message "Your bunny is starving", I click on the message and it brings me to the edge of the map where all my animals are standing. Those were supposed to go with the caravan. They did not. The caravan is stuck in the '" Leaving the area" Phase, which now I can not cancel or bring everyone back because it has not started yet... Tried reloading and restarting my game hoping it would fix it somehow, but no... I am giving the game a 8/10, because I am looking forward with this developer. He has great ideas, great execution, it just seems he need a little more time figuring those bugs. I would be happy to play again. The dev already gave up on this little project, which is kinda disappointing, since this is a gem. But it is his choice. I respect that. PS I bought the game just to make a review(I played it via family sharing). Also, we gotta support small devs that have great ideas like this.

One of My favorite Indie game devs. I have been an avid supporter of the series and taken part in numerous playtests and alphas in Hollow Island, and much of the precursor to what Grim Realms is today. Grim Nights is one of my favorite games on steam, and I really enjoy the World that has been created within Grim Realms, It adds so much depth and customization for your settlement, and settlers. Most of my time in game has been very early alpha, I am very excited for the 1.0 release and am looking forwards to all of the content and lore. If you like designing functional cities for your workers and armies, and using what you build to defend the livelihood of your clan, then this is a game for you. I Hightly Reccommend checking out all of the Titles by this creator, specifically Grim Nights, and Hollow Island.

The game has reached it's 1.0 release, and though the full release had no significant content drop. For what it is, it's a decent colony management game with an artsyle I personally am fond of. Pros: 1. the cultures/world building(?) You can create a world and then fill it up with your own personalised cultures with their own racial bonuses and appearances. good for people who are more roleplay orientated and want to make a little setting in their heads. 2. the general gameplay flow. with how I would argue it. it's a wave survival colony manager. you build/mine/farm and when hostiles appear you get to your defences and finish them off. It's a interesting loop and given how you can control how soon or not you get events based on how you build and your starting location lets you orientate your difficulty on those factors. cons. 1. the alignment system. The alignments are kinda one-dimensional. if you decide to go full evil you don't get necromancers attacking but instead get paladins. But there is very little benefit to actually going Dark alignment unless you want a bunch of zombies who cannot do much unless you tank their psychic resistance. the benefits of going light alignment are more applicable/worth while. Also the game's story/goals generally go against doing a Dark Alignment settlement. 2. The lack of game-driven world locations. Traders are pretty much random. it's random when they arrive and their stocks are just as random and strange. the lack of prominent settlements/factions (that are not playermade. you can make factions/settlements yourself and travel to them in different playthroughs) means to have a lot of things to do within your world would require a lot of effort in setting up settlements yourself, and getting news from the random strangers that appear at your settlements. but given the story of the game I can understand the lack of readily known factions.
